Hi mumsnetters,
I'm a new mum(to a darling three week baby girl) and want to get her a bouncer. While researching I also came across a jumperoo and I think it might be good investmnt for the future. Is it worth buying both?
At the moment the
BABY PAPASAN by fisherprice and
RAINFOREST JUMPEROO also fprice
are looking good - anyone tried these?
I'm hoping to get them second hand so will try ebay, and would be greatful for any reviews or advice from those who've gone before!
xx

Hi Frazzled

I would vote for the jumperoo, I got one for my DD and she LOVES it. I wanted something that was more than just activites and she's loved bouncing but we couldn't really have a doorway one in our house. It is probably the best money we have spent on ANYTHING for DD. If you have any specfic questions juts let me know....might see if I can put some piccies on my profile.......(wonders off to see whats on the pc)

Hiya Frazzled

Another vote for Jumperoo. Had thought there would be no massive plastic toys in our living room until I saw how much friend's DC loved their Jumperoos. So bought one for DD and she bounces like a loon in it. It took her awhile to get into it but now she really plays with it- poking and pulling all the little toys and of course jumping.

One friend told me before I got ours that her LO has such a full on work out from the bouncing that she will nap after for a good couple of hours. Sadly we have had no such luck!

Ps- The Jumperoo is aimed at babies of 6 months. My DD had hers from 4 months and it seemed ok but I never let her spend more than 10-15 mins at a time in it. Now she is 5.2 months she can go for much longer in it. Just wanted to make sure you knew you would have a bit of a wait before your DD is able to safely enjoy it

I have the jumperoo. I waited until DD was 6.5 months old but wish I had used it earlier, as soon as they can support their head really. Now that shes 10 months she isnt overly keen on being restrained so the jumperoo is out of favour. I feel like it was expensive for 3 months of occasional use.

I also have a bouncer which hangs between the door but she isnt keen on that.

I agree that the jumperoo is the best buy so far for us! We used it from about 4-5 months and now DS is 8.5 months and love it!

My DS also loved his cradle swing when he was little, used to sleep in it for hours! But he did outgrow it by about 6-7 months.

Just to add another viewpoint, my daughter has hip problems and we have been advised by her physiotherapist that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES must she use a Jumperoo or other bouncer, even after her hips are recovered.

She also said that she would not advise Jumperoos for any baby as they can put strain on their bones and joints, and also they hold their legs in the wrong position.

Please, please do a little research into this before rushing out and buying one, it can't hurt to be in possession of all the facts in order to make an informed choice before spending so much money on a toy.
