Daft Question re: OU literature courses

Is the reading content counted as part of the reading you'd normally do with an OU course or is it extra? EG. if you were doing a geography course you'd spend x amount of time reading textbooks - with a lit course would you read the books and then spend as long again on textbooks?

hi there I see no-one has responded. I am doing an ou degree in literature and have completed a210 and azx103 and am half way through a215. I can say for a210 there was a LOT of reading...10 novels in all and its not counted as textbook reading time. Although the textbook reading can be done in less than an hour a day really so you spend more time reading. Go to the lectures the tutors are a massive help...goodluck!

Hi there,

I have only just seen this thread so apologies for not responding. I am just about to start my final year with the OU and have previously studied literature courses at both level 2 and 3. Yes, there is definately a lot of reading and this is in addition to the course readings and text book work you would do for any other subject. My advice would be to read as many of the set texts as possible before the course starts, however, don't be put off by the thought of so much reading. Every literature course I have studied with OU has been great and I can't recommend them highly enough. Definately worth the effort!
