DB's baby keeps having leaky nappies and we can't work out why.
Any suggestions on which brands are best to absord runny poo...I just used Pampers and they were always fine but it seems dear nephew is a poo monster!

I'm afraid from experience forget disposables and get shaped cloth nappies.

i've found sainsbury eco nappies fantastic for containing runny poo - they withstand even DS's most explosive moments.

Will watch this thread with interest. Have always used pampers with all 3 dc but with ds3 he keeps leaking poo and wee and can't figure out why.

Forgot to say the wee chap seems to have bad skin so needs to be soft.

Not sure they're up for reusables but will suggest them anyway.

always found that huggies newborn/natural fit were best for newborns and then changed to pampers once my boys got to about 15lbs. not sure why but maybe the shape.

tbh now i just buy whichever has the best offer.

Motherease PUL Wrap designed for use over cloth nappies or plastic pants from Boots or Mothercare will do the trick if you put them over a disposable.

tescos own not bad- certainly as good as pampers. and cheaper... i doubt any disposable is 100%

chloemegjess · 09/11/2008 00:51

If they have access to costco card the the kirkland nappies are fab (costcos own brand). But if not the the tescos ones. Not the Teaco value ones, the own brand that is more expensive than value iyswim?

chipmunkswhereareyou · 09/11/2008 14:59

Ooh like that idea Bigbad.

Is that the Tesco new baby ones Blink and Chloe? I rated the baby essentials ones - as good as Pampers and cheaper but ds was older at that stage and they weren't 'tested' with that delightful newborn runny poo!!

Also, buy a larger size of disposable. They will look massive on the baby but will contain more and less chance of poo going up the back. Do you use a vest? Use a larger size vest so that it doesn't squash the nappy. I vote for Tesco's.

sweetkitty · 10/11/2008 15:07

Pampers Newborn to start with but once they need size 3's Tesco's Easy Fit.

Have found though that not many nappies will hold a newborn explosive poo just one of these things I'm afraid

BBM's idea (wrap over a disposable) works a treat for ds3 who leaks several times a day otherwise. Although any small/xs small wrap will do e.g. popolino, junior joy - usually loads of them on MN for a song.

ChillyTilly · 11/11/2008 13:08

I think it depends on your child. I found Huggies leaked like anything, and Pampers were far better (the yellow range, whatever they were called). My friend found Pampers leaked, and Huggies worked for her son. Children are different!

Have told them about the wrap idea - think that should do the job. Thanks to all.
