Im desperate, posted somewhere hre before but now im at the end and I can't cope or take any more......

dd is 3.6 yrs and potty trained snce early this year I think. No issues.

Till the time for pre school 3 months ago. Then started poo'ing around once a week..
Then "marking" her pants. Wee's are fine.

I broke down on monday with her in the toilet, I couldn't take any more.

Every night while im preparing dinner its the same.......for an hour its:
toilet, lounge, toilet, lounge, toilet till finally no more...each visit see's her sit on the toilet and either pass a penny size poo or notihing.
She has started asking for me to leave her..only for me to return and she's put her fingers into/on her bum to remove poo.(no idea where she got this idea from.) or wets a tissue to do it iykiwm. She ends up covered in poo and usually tries to wash her hands or wipes it onto the walls .

I have just started another episode tonight and im ashame to say I have smacked her . Please don't all shout me down etc BUT im at the end of things........seriously.

I took her to the gp on monday who has given movicol. She's has had the dose suggested for 3 days now and nothing.............

gp's says we need to break the cycle as seems she is witholding BUT how do I do it..............its depressing me,stressing me out and as I have a 20mth old ds (with hirschsprungs) I have little time or patience..

I want to walk away from everything. Silly as it may sounds...

dh working away alot atm.

lm,yes dd is at preschool and has only been there for 3 months so I don't want to draw attention any more iykwim, although only there 2 days a week.
Imnotmama,ah right..that would be easy for me as I know she always wants to go before dinner..starts everyday around 5pm so I guess I can narrow it down.

Well,if movicol is the best in shifting then I thought something would have happened by now...on day 3...
Can you imagine...........she has a party to go to tomorrow and I can see us up to our eyes in the brown stuff

Checking mail now notmamag x

just checking email now notmamag.

Been to the chemist today and spoke to my pharmacist this morning, he's given me suppositries (free bless him..) and suggests these with movicol and keep then to movicol of it works..if nothing to speak to my gp on mon. He agree's and in fact commented that her moods were down to this iykiwm...

He's emailed me a link on consitipation in lo's and its very educational and describes dd exactly.

W have a party to go to this afternoon (kiddies one) and I don't want this to be an issue for her so will try suppositry tomorrow...

UNLESS I have some movement today..Im also upping the movicol dosage from 2 to 3 sachets.

i really hope things settle for her and you

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/11/2008 12:52

Great

Tomorrow is a good plan - and stay at home (near the loo).

Well done you - and at kind pharmacist

Do let us know how things go

shhhh · 08/11/2008 13:01

Yes I will do boysare... Im also planning on NO visitors (inc granp's) dh is away till tue and tomorrow I want to give her my undivided attention.

I also don't want her to feel under pressure not to go iykwim as people are here as she can be a bit funny like that...

I HAVE TO SORT THIS.....

Yeah,my pharmacist is lovely. , He spoke to me for ages on the phone this morning. Resurring me that on this estate there is prob a dozen kinds in a similar situation and said that my reactions were normal, im only human.

When I went in he had everything ready for me and as he couldn't print off the advice he asked to email it.

He's only a village chemist BUT he does whatever he can iykiwm, when ds was fitted with a stoma at 5 weeks old he was so understanding and so helpful.
Im just as guilty of using the likes of Tesco chemist sometimes BUT think this has made me think again....

Sorry no time for a long post but have a look here

You may need the Movicol twice a day. Avoid senna for now as it can cause awful cramps and pains and your DD needs to be reassured that it's possible to poo without pain.

Make sure her feet are supported so she's in an ideal pooing position; give her books, maybe access to a TV so she 'forgets' that she's on the loo.

Hope it settles down soon.

shhhh · 08/11/2008 13:32

thanks sidge, atm movicol is being taken x2 aday..now upping to x3.

Tried books etc but still nothing .
I do also try and help her by getting her to push her feet into me as I sit down....

I haven't had experience with this with my children- but I do get a lot of constipation myself. The best thing I find to help is Kiwi's, I have one a day and it works wonders. I know it sounds wierd but give it a go.
xx

gp suggested mango so bought one today ready for tomorrow..will try kiwis next. Thanks .

OMG,can you imagine, tomorrow may be a poo fest .

Im back...............
today has been...........hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... interesting .

So this morning I felt awful as I fought with dd to insert a suppository...it felt wrong , so wrong .

Sheknew I was doing something BUT I just made out I was rubbing in cream iykwim.
Within 30 mins she was on the toilet, I had put her in a nappy.
All day she has been around x6/8. Accidents in her nappy (in one all day) BUT I have made light of it and said her tummy is poorly and thats why she is in a nappy.

She doesn't seem to know when she has gone BUT asks for a wee so not sure if the poo is making her think its wee..?

Although tonight after dinner she did go and did sit there reading and I could hear iykiwm..several times.

Do you think she may revert back to potty training stage.? I just though that today she would be like "i need the toilet noooooooooooow" but she hasn't been.. Good or bad..?

The poo is also v v loose...

I have also upped the movicol dose to x3 sachets a day..

Oh and.............I think ds may also be helping dd out with her "drinks"......believe me, he so doesn't need any more help in going BUT today I have had them both sh1tting......

BTW,Dh is home tomorrow...HOORRAY

Shhhh yes loose poo is normal aft suppository

Did it hurt ? Hope not bless her

I am so glad that the block has cleared, good luck.

shhhh · 09/11/2008 22:47

did what hurt..? Putting it in or the toilet..?

Neither did I think. I wet the suppositry and loaded it nwith vaseline.. So don;t think it did although think the wrestling I did to pin her down maybe did

mybabywakesupsinging · 10/11/2008 01:15

Think may be after a long time not going regularly your dd will have to re-learn the "normal" signals again , but won't take her long.
Even adults can be incontinent after lots of movicol and suppositories. It will pass as her bowel gets back to normal. Most important thing was to get her going again.
Best wishes.

shhhh · 10/11/2008 13:29

thanks mybaby..

I have reduced movicol today back to 2 sachets been going iykiwm..
she has been x2 and had accidents both times BUT once on the toilet she seems to push etc as usual.
As you said mybaby I guess she needs to get back to noramlility..

I have canclled pre shcool tomorrow as I can't her like this going in...

Guess, at least she has "got rid" of what seems to have built up...
