The item in question is a multi games table one of those where you have pool, football, skittles, hockey etc.
I just gets in the way stuck in the middle of my conservatory and my ds never bothers with it.
I figure I could make a bit of cash out of it for christmas but my ds doesn,t want to to sell it.
Would you go ahead and sell a toy knowing that your dc never bothers with it and probably never will despite any protests.

Personally, no I wouldn't. But then I'm soft

you could tell him that you need to sell it to buy new toys.

I often suggest that they chose something OF A SIMILAR SIZE to get rid of

they usually relent

morningpaper · 06/11/2008 20:03

(Having said that, could you buy a table top to stick over it and actually use it?)

Marne · 06/11/2008 20:04

Yes (im mean), im selling some of dd's toys, i have told her we need to sell them to make room for the ones father christmas will bring. In our house if it hasn't been played with for a month i sell it

pookamoo · 06/11/2008 20:06

My dad is in his 60s. When he went away to college his mum GAVE AWAY his toy cars to the child across the street who had measles.

My dad has never forgiven her for this... !

melpomene · 06/11/2008 20:10

If they don't play with it I might give them a warning that I'll sell it in x days / weeks if they're still not playing with it.

QueenFee · 06/11/2008 20:12

My dd dosn't want to part with anything if she knows. However if she dosn't see it go she never asks for it, as I wouldn't be getting rid of it unless it was pretty much unused. So yes it would go (but in a couple of weeks when then novelty has worn off again

Pheebe · 07/11/2008 12:19

No, I'd be seriously p*ed off if someone tried to sell my 'stuff'. Can it go in their bedroom? I like the idea of getting/making a table top and using it.

PsychoGuyFawkesMum · 07/11/2008 12:23

I have been selling some of my DC's toys the past few weeks, and they have been involved.

anything they protest against strongly, then they have kept, as for the rest, I sorted out and if they kicked off (DS2 mainly....he saw things he had forgotten about and still claimed to love), then they were allowed to choose one thing back.

I also gave them a small amount of money from the proceeds to spend on themselves, which helped lots.

how about a compromise tho......say that you need some room and some monay for new things for xmas, and see what he chooses to sell.

SixSpotBonfire · 07/11/2008 12:24

In answer to OP - no.

Nemowith3and1tobe · 07/11/2008 12:30
