I have just received the following announcement, in case any Paris MNers are interested:

The Parisian Child Language Seminar

CONFERENCE n°2

TWIST or JIVE ?
THE RELATION BETWEEN BILINGUAL CHILDREN?S TWO LANGUAGES

Annick de Houwer, University of Antwerp

I don't speak French, I get the gist I think but can you confirm what is says.

AuldAlliance · 10/11/2008 11:07

It's about a conference on Nov 24th, 6pm_8pm, ground floor of the Maison de la Recherche, 28 r. Serpente.
If you're interested, entrance is free but you need to e-mail the contact (A. Morgenstern) to book your seat. The aim of the conference series is to provide an original means of presenting research by international specialists and to allow students and colleagues working in all fields relating to languages/language acquisition, or interested in those questions, to speak English while improving their knowledge of the field. They can meet acknowledged specialists for whom English is their mother tongue or professional language, as well as native speakers or teachers of English from the Paris area.
Bit of a rough&ready translation...!

Are you going to go AA?

AuldAlliance · 11/11/2008 11:50

No, I can't, Anna.
Quite fancied it, but I have a meeting at work till 5pm, unfortunately.
But I am looking into stopping off in Paris for a night on the way to Scotland for Christmas. DS is dying to see the Eiffel Tower for some reason, and it's probably easier to get things like that done now, rather than after the baby comes. Any ideas for cheapish, child-friendly hotels welcome .

Thanks for posting AA. I'd love to go but probably can't make that time of day...

AuldAlliance · 12/11/2008 20:05

Yes, not a very family-friendly time of day...
If there is potential interest, perhaps I'll pass on any other announcements of the kind that I receive.
