Any hot tips for getting los to sit calmly so I can cut their nails.

Dd1 hated it until we discovered TV and she would sit calmly aged 12mo + watching while I snipped.
Dd2 is used to Tv and ignores it and wriggles away. It's become a real battle. She is 18mo. Any good ideas please?

I do it when ds is asleep.. you have to wait till that moment of deep sleep though as too soon and you blow the whole operation..did it yesterday nap time and was very successful

pin her down.

(or sing)

Wait till the evening, when she is exhausted and watching her last programme of the day before going to bed, and do it then.......with a threat of turning off TV if she doesn't let you.

I do it as soon as I get DS up from his nap, as he is usually dopey and compliant then. Bit of singing as well.

Thanks everyone. I have been doing it last thing before bed but might try whilst she is actually asleep...

my dd was like this, she was a little older but we managed to persuade her by letting her have them painted (a very light colour) afterwards.

I have wierd children as they like getting their nails done. I did dd's (5) tonight and had ds (2) clambering up to get his done too even though I'd only done his a few days ago.

Have some clippers dotted around the place and if the opportunity arises, just do one nail. no more. Soon it won't be a big deal to her as it won't be a long drawn out awkward affair.

chocolate buttons

enlist the help of grandparent/auntie or other similar adult who can distract and divert.

I have started to do mine at the same time as dd, she watches me and then I do hers. Last time she said in amazement 'that didn't hurt!'. She is a bit older though, 3

Thanks all.

I like the idea of one nail at a time but actually chocolate buttons sounds great - can't believe I didn't think of it before.
