Really nice boy from a lovely family, but he swears alot. The parents are really nice but just don't seem to know how to deal with it.

My 4 y/o has started to repeat stuff, when he says it, but not at home. It's starting to really concern me.

If my 5yo was friends with someone who swore a lot, I would make damn (!! ) sure that they didn't spend any time together

My dd1's best friend at 4 was a child from the school's most problematic family. She swore a lot, and my dd1 picked it up off her. I used to hear her practising in bed.

But it didn't last. the swearing. And the child was very nice, just from a very rough background. We liked the friendship overall so we put up with the swearing and other bad behaviour. (anyway it's hardly as if we never swear ourselves)

I wouldn't stop a friendship for that. But I'd tell my children they couldn't use those words at home (or school, or in front of elderly relatives).

I would never try to stop a friendship over swearing if that was the only problem I saw with it. I would as already suggested make it quite clear that those words couldn't be used at school at home in front of family etc.
