Tots Bots ...

Think we're going to go with fluffles, although i've read that they are a bit smelly when wet - have people had experience with this? Are bamboozles at lot better?

Microfibre has a tendancy to hold onto smells more than other fabrics so fluffles can be a bit more prone to being smelly.

Fluffles and bamboozles have their pros and cons - I wouldn't say one was better than the other because it depends on what type of nappy you want. Bamboozles are thinner fitting, take much longer to dry, fluffles are quite bulky but dry far more quickly.

tbh I thing totsbots are rather over-rated in the main - DS could wet through a bamboozle in an hour at 2 days old. You are likely to find they are outgrown quicker than TB say they will be too.

thanks bigbadmouse! what did you use?

Pretty much everything going . Been using them for a while now but my first purchase was a btp pack of fluffles which I propmtly sold because they were too bulky. I currently use ellas House Day nappies for DD2 and Motherease Sandy's and Fuzzi Bunz for babyDS. When I worked out how many nappies I had a few weeks ago it turned out to be just under 300 I think (in my defence I am an advisor).

Have you had any advice on what nappies to use?

Not sure if you know this....

"KCC offer an incentive of up to £30. This can be taken as a discount when nappies are purchased from an authorised agent or store, or in vouchers otherwise. There is a supportive Kent Cloth Nappy Network and regular nappucino mornings throughout Kent. Call 0845 3450210 for more details, look at the Kent County Council website"

I looked at the website for you - wasn't exactly packed with info but at least you have the number there.

I love my fluffles and they never smell. I only wash them at 40 degrees most of the time with non-bio liquid (maybe once a month at 60) and I hardly ever dry them outside (because they dry so quickly that I put a load on in the evening and they are dry by morning most of the year, which is one of the reasons I love them - hate having wet laundry hanging round for ages). I do squirt poo-stains with Vanish, don't know if that helps with smell.

That said, I don't sniff them regularly, but certainly no noticeable smell and apparently DP does sniff sometimes and he says they don't smell! Fluffles are quite bulky compared to other nappies but that's not a problem for us because DS is such a beanpole that Fluffles mean his trousers actually stay up, which they don't on the the odd occasion he wears a thinner nappy.

Because they dry so quickly, I don't own many which has saved me load of money - just 6 of the size 2 ones (have some others I use for emergencies and use dispos overnight) and 13 of size 1s. I only wash every other day.

I love Fluffles! (Also find they last longer than other microfibre ones I have e.g. bambinex, and I like the fleece liner - poo comes off easier and no nappy rash)

I agree with lovage, fluffles are brilliant. We wash them at night put them on an airer and they are dry in the morning. No smells here either.

jooseyfruit · 16/10/2008 12:05

i have some size 1 fluffles if you would be interested in buying them (am i allowed to do that here??)
I've got 9 (i think) with motherease airflow wraps.
if you're not squeamish about 2nd hand!!! (they have been sterilisd and washed!!!!)

jooseyfruit - did you get my email about the fluffles?

Tots are overrated IMO, they trade off the back of their name.
If you like the idea of microfibre nappies for speedy drying why not consider the little lambs microfibre nappies or the lollipop ones?

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 20/10/2008 09:36

needaholiday - I completely agree! Although it is nice to have something new to try like the flexitot.

I will be interested to see what the (irritatingly named) 'Pocket Tot' will turn out like....

needaholiday · 20/10/2008 11:12

Pocket tots? I googled that and it's a wahm nappy site called pocket bots. Bit naughty Tots taking names

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 20/10/2008 14:00

Yeah - Pocket Bots are really good...well, they were my fave for DD2. That is why I said 'irritatingly named'. I'll have to think where I saw the TB ones now....

jooseyfruit · 20/10/2008 14:06

hi mrsy, your e-mail went to my spam file for some reason!!!! I'll e-mail you back tonight if that's o.k. am mad busy at work at the mo!!

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 20/10/2008 14:13

here

boogeek · 20/10/2008 14:15

I do actually find my fluffles to be a bit smellier than any other nappy! Not when dry and clean, all you nappy sniffers ;) but when full of wee. It's not a big problem though!

weepootle · 22/10/2008 19:25

I'm really confused about all this nappy stuff so please bear with me .

I've just bought some Tots Bots 'Nappy Organic 1 Nippa (5-18lb)' from Amazon (after seeing they were reduced to under £3 here). Will I need wraps to go with these as well? Do I get the Nippa clip with the nappy or have to buy these separately? Are they the same ones you're talking about on here?

Thanks .

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 22/10/2008 19:35

weepootle - Don't tell everyone! I want some before they all go

Yes, you will need a wrap to go over them - a motherease rikki or airflow is the best option, the newest totsbots rainbow wraps and flexiwraps are ok but motherease are considered the best (previouds totsbots wraps have been leaky)

You will need to buy a nippa for them. You can get them in Boots (often), eBay or put a wanted on here - someone is bound to have a spare, they are often FFP.

They are a good nappy but not what this thread is discussing. Yours are organic cotton, fluffles are microfibre. Yours will be thinner fitting but take longer to dry (fluffles are very quick drying) absorbancy is about the same. Fluffles have a built in fleece liner and yours don't so you can use a separate one, a paper one or none at all!

ninja · 22/10/2008 19:44

Yes you need a wrap (Motherease airflow best imo) and you'll need to buy the nippas separately - but they're pretty cheap

weepootle · 23/10/2008 12:13

Great- I feel a bit more clued up now! Thanks for answering that lot, BigBadMouse & Ninja.
