Becoming a nappy advisor - how etc!

I'm considering this due to a shortage of advisors in my area (all nappy experts and current advisors: I'm in Anglesey, so don't panic!).

How does being a nappy advisor work? And how do I find someone to work for? I've been in touch with babykind, but I'm assuming there's others too?

Oh goodness, Essie, I was dreaming about this last night! I was an advisor in the dream. There is no hope!

Hahaha, nappies take over the world, Ceolas, awake and asleep!

Have Babykind got back to you yet?

Also look into Lollipop (start up fees though), local nappy projects - search the RNC website - and think about going independent.

Do you want to sell or just advise? If you just want to advise you won't make any money out of it.

How it works depends on who you work for - they all have different systems.

There could be a real nappy network in your area which you could join. These do tend to be voluntary.
I've no idea how much I can say on these forums, but I am a nappy advisor. I've done it for almost 3 years and love it. I get to meet lots of parents, help them choose their nappies. I started when dd1 was 9 months old and I needed something to do rather than go back to work. I am so glad I did it, I've been very busy, but with all these things you get what you put in.
It is good as it all fits in round my girls, there are no targets/pressure to sell, I do demos mostly in the evenings when they are sleeping, and I do all the admin in the evenings too.
Let me know if you have any questions or want more info.

How do you make money if you're independent, to ask a cheeky question?
I'm not looking to do this to pay my mortgage or anything, but because I like real nappies (!) and feel there's a gap here in my area. But I'd rather not do it for nowt...

you'd have to sell them Essie - do you have somewhere you could store your stock?

Essie3 · 13/10/2008 20:37

Hm, sounds complicated - I don't have a business brain at all... I could store all the stock in my spare room, but I assume this would mean negotiating a discount and stuff from suppliers. Which sounds complicated!

Ask Flame or Nappyzone - they'll know more
