little kiwi quick flips with nappyelite wraps. They are absorbent, easy to use, easy to wash, quicker drying, comfortable, soft, well fitting, reasonably priced, reliable, suitable for day and night, hard wearing and the wraps are both cute AND reliable too. Any more reasons?

Essie3 · 09/10/2008 17:57

The pop-in. No leaks, superb overnight, bamboo so v. renewable. Birth to potty. Easy to use.

ilovemydog · 09/10/2008 17:59

depends.

newborn: sandy's extra small

after 13 pounds: flexitot/lollipop bamboo/bumgenius one size

larger baby: Sandy's large

Ellas house hemp bum hhuggers. very very absorbant, slim fitting and lined with fleece so you dont need a liner, and really really cute which is ibviously the most important bit, best wraps are nature babies for cute reasons alone.

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 17:59

Depends on age of baby, how you are going to wash and dry and what kind of water you have?

imo.

liahgen · 09/10/2008 18:01

ilovemydog.

Do you boost your sandy's for larger babies?

Loved sandys for newborn.

I have 22lber love

bumgenius
bamboozles
minkis
flexitot, although i think its a bit bulky

henrys7thwife · 09/10/2008 18:56

i will be using them ideally from birth to potty, disposables for trips away though (only anticipated 3-4 times a year).

I will also be machine washing and tumble drying, we live in London so I think hard water.

pre-folds
Pro-wrap outers

simple easy to dry, reliable.
LOVE them

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 19:13

So I would say bumgenius or mommys touch (good fit, plus velcro doesn't go bobbly)

I wouldn't commit to one system/type tbh - get a mix and try - some nappy places will let you return used nappies if you don't get on with them for a 70% refund (babykind for sure)

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 19:14

I had to get rid of all my shaped nappies bar fluffles, cos they just got so hard. London water is V V hard... (but I don't have a tumble dryer)

Essie3 · 09/10/2008 20:19

Well, in London you're ok with bamboo nappies.

They take longer to dry. But I live in Wales, and also in London. London is 10-20 degrees warmer than Wales, and nappies air dry inside much quicker in London.

ilovemydog · 09/10/2008 20:40

liaghen - tend only to boost at night

moocowme · 09/10/2008 20:46

don't know as i have only ever used my home mdae ones (which work absolutely fine). I would say that baboo terry is the best stuffer for them.

amitymama · 10/10/2008 16:24

How do prefolds and PUL covers do in hard water?

WinkyWinkola · 10/10/2008 16:28

Bumgenius.

Neat, absorbent, dry easily, great colours.

Neenztwinz · 10/10/2008 17:08

I have only ever used terries, Onelife and Totsbots, love the totsbots cos they are so snug but are not birth to potty so more expensive long-term, Onelife are fab, don't think I have ever had a leak, birth to potty which is economical but can be quite bulky so clothes don't fit so well (just buy bigger size!).

Terries are great for wet nappies cos dry so quick but not always so reliable for dirty nappies. I try to guess when DTs are going to poo and put a Onelife on them , otherwise just use a terry - I love them.

BigBadMousey · 10/10/2008 17:55

THERE ISN'T ONE

Sorry, just had to type that.

You have to find what suits you best - what is ideal for one person might be awful for another - there a few mentioned on here I wouldn't touch with a barge pole for DS!

Best way to find out what will work best is to get some tailored advice, try a trial kit, buy a few different types second hand etc

Your ideal nappy depends on

budget
water hardness
drying facilites
whether you really don't like the big bummed look
if you don't want to have to use poppers or nippas
how often you want to have to wash
childcare situation

loads of things really....
