that I need to send it a certified copy of my birth certificate or passport.......I don't know where either of them are at the moment, and the form needs to be in by October 1st (yes I know I've left it late).

WTF do I do??? Even if I find either of them who on earth am I going to get to sign the copy - my Vicar went away on holiday yesterday......

Do you live where you were born? If so, you can get a copy from the registrar (sp?).

Does your doctor know you well enough to sign it (or anyone with a good job iykwim). Get hold of it tomorrow, send it Tuesday by next day delivery.

FYI, a neighbour signed mine for me (not for OU though) as he had his own business. It was accepted. (Neighbour knew me since I was born).

FAQ · 28/09/2008 17:19

No live 300 miles from where I was born.

Only seen my own doctor 2 times in 6yrs.

Do they have to have know me for ages? DS2's headteacher would probably sign a copy for me (presuming I can find on or the other ) - but I think he's only "known" me (he knows me quite well as I go in and do assemblies once a month as well as being a "normal" parent) for a year or so.

A year should be fine! If they can't trust a headteacher, who can they trust!

thanks - I shall have to search the house high and low for one or the other tonight and pop over to church and photocopy it tomorrow (one of the "perks" of being the organist I have a key to the church and they don't mind the odd one or two photocopies for personal use )

FAQ are you not on any benefits?

I took my forms to my local housing office and they stamped them for me. It saved me sending in any ID

FAQ · 28/09/2008 23:34

yes I am - but the "residence" part of the form requires prove of my eligibility to get the financial support.

I've already got them to stamp the bit in the form that says I'm getting IS - but I hadn't realised that I needed a copy of my birth certificate or passport certified too

Anyhow, thankfully found the passport tonight, so going to pop into DS2's school tomorow, ask the secretary to photocopy it for me (she knows me very well, and I often pop in just for a natter - and I even got my own personal phone call on the day before term started to remind me I could pick up the school uniforms - as otherwise I'd probably have forgotten ) so I'm pretty sure she'll do a quick copy for me, then ask the head to sign it.........then head off to the post office!

FAQ · 28/09/2008 23:42

I only decided not long ago to get my arse into gear and do something (especially while I'm able to get funding for it) (mad decision at 2am on morning a few weeks ago - although had been toying with the idea for a year or 2 on and off, just couldn't decide what subject to do lol).

Form supposed to be back 1st October - so it will be in the post first class tomorrow (I'm just hoping that I move house before I start and not at the start of it.......)

Online registrar web site, print out the form for a copy certificate now and run to the post box. I got mine back by return mail in 2 days. That should work if you next day deliver the form with a begging letter

However they are people so you can phone tomorrow and explain, I expect you could forward the Birth Certificate in a day or two with no problems.

FAQ · 28/09/2008 23:56

callme - it's ok - I found my passport tonight so am going to get it photocopied and the copy signed tomorrow and send my form off straight away

OP posts:
FAQ · 28/09/2008 23:57

and I can't run to the post box now anyhow - you'd all call SS on me - leaving 3 DS's asleep in the house on their own for 20 minutes

It reminded me to complete my form & send it off with my Tescos vouchers

FAQ · 29/09/2008 00:19

glad to be of assistance

(makes a change for me - I'm usually asking for help/reminders on MN LOL)

Oh oh oh

Apparently

"From the information you have provided it appears that you could be eligible for a partial award which would be:

  • A course grant of £191 to help with study expenses.

If you intend to study a course where the fees are higher than £785, for example Business or Law, you will also qualify for support towards the proportion of your course fee that is higher than £785. You will only receive this additional support for one such high fee course per year.

If you are eligible for a partial award, you are also likely to qualify for up to £200 additional funding towards your course fees. "

What does this mean?
Have I left it too late?

Have I stuffed up by paying with Tescos voucers?

FAQ · 29/09/2008 00:28

I don't think you've left it too late (I'm new at all this higher education stuff) - I think if you send off your forms and your vouchers by the date (mine said 1st October) you should be fine.............but please don't quote me on that

OP posts:
KatyMac · 29/09/2008 00:31

But I have paid the whole amount with my vouchers

What are study expenses?

Have I wasted £200 of vouchers - Oh poop
