Couldn't believe how stupid this man was at the Zoo yesterday with his 2 DDs.....

Hello. This probably won't sound as bad as what it actually looked as when my Sis told her DP I thought it didn't sound anywhere near as bad.

Anyway. Went to the Zoo yesterday and they had like a large enclosure that you can walk through with the Lemers (small monkeys). There were big signs to say NO FOOD as the monkeys would try and get it etc.

This bloke walks in with his 2 DDs about 3 and 4ish at a guess, carrying them both. They both have an ice cream and cornet in their hands. So these monkeys came over looking at the food as they naturally would. The man, instead of walking away, watches his DDs tease one monkey in particular and the monkey is getting wound up. He then puts them down on the ground so they can get closer. The monkey by this stage looks like he might scratch the children to get the food and lots of people looking worried and somebody said that there was no food. I managed to make eyes with a member of staff who was wondering over this way. The man then gets ice cream on his hands and lets the monekey eat it. The monkey is now trying to climb on the 3 year old and the Dad is saying "it is following us now, get off you little basdard" to the monkey. Still hasn't tried to move away and is still allowing his DD's to have the ice creams and waving it near the monkey.

The monkey was litterally about to scratch the child's face before the staff came over and helped and told the man that is why there is no food etc. The girl is screaming but not actually hurt. The bloke still laughs at the monkey and although leaves, he still didn't seem to see what the problem is.

Is it just me or is this so stupid? He was putting both his DDs at risk and wasn't even bothered. Took absolutly no notice of all the warnings and was just so oblivious to any danger. How would he have felt if the DD got hurt? Maybe even complain about the zoo?

Obviously a complete idiot, but I don't think I'd worry too much about the girls, surely the lemurs would simply take the ice cream out of their hands (no need for scratching or biting).
Cruel to tease them though.

TheSmallClanger · 28/09/2008 18:43

Lemurs aren't naturally vicious as they're non-predatory, but they're not particularly gentle when food is involved, rather like a hungry toddler with very sharp teeth.

He is, indeed, a twonk. S

People do tease big cats. Once had the pleasure of seeing a tiger get fed up with some nasty boys who were taunting it, making gestures, yelling, etc. etc. etc. Tiger ignored but eventually decided to deal with them. Wandered over to the wire and aimed a JET of urine right at them. They were soaked!

BabyBaby123 - I wondered that too! Would get somebody in trouble! Too right though!

madlentileater - I know they wouldn't have just randomly going to go up to them and bite them, but because of them teasing it, it climbed onto the girl and was about to swipe it from her before the zoo keeper came and could have easily scratched her non intentionally or cratched or biten in self defence where she was very upset and her and the dad were trying to get him off her.

Wouldn't be surprised if she will be scared of them now either, she really screamed the place down.

I was at moneky world in dorset where they have a walk in enclosure and me and my DH were in there - loads of signs everywhere saying 'dont touch the animals'

Anyway this one guy in front of his three kids trys to go up to a lemur to stroke it

luckly a keeper was near by so stopped him but my DH turned to me and said 'thats something you expect the kids to try to do not the supposed adult in this situation'

My dad was like this . I can remember him getting told off for running a stick up and down the railings trying to rile up some wolves, and on a separate occasion for leaping a fence into an enclosure to try and pick up an ostrich feather. He was also sick in a bin at Alton Towers after eating loads of sweets and going on the pirate ship. He was always a total embarrassment; I dreaded family outings.

Ive seen children putting their hands in with the penguins and the merekats with their parents just sitting laughing and watching - it makes me cross I really do think these people have had a brain bypass.
