OMG DS...do I save him from this embarassing situation or stay out of it?

My 9 year old DS and his little friend (also 9) have great aspirations of one day owning a microsoft style company that will take over the computer world and make them rich.

They have started making their own website, which is a blatent copy of "Roblox" (kids online building game). However neither of them know any computer coding, neither can do any graphic design and neither can spell very well therefore they have this website up (on a free domain) that just screams out "look at us little kids pretending to be web designers!" lol

Anyway, I've just been looking through DS's email (a condition of him using the net) and he only went and emailed Roblox asking them to sponser his new company and he told them if they did, he would be happy to help them develop their own site (you know, this multi-million $ online gaming community!) to make it better

They actually replied and said "sorry, I don't understand what you're asking?" and he replied back saying "Thats ok, sorry if it looks like we've copied your game a bit but we're not, its more like the sims. here is our website (adds address of little site) and when we get a real domain name our business will really take off. If you see anything on the site that looks identical to your roblox, let us know and if you don't like it we will remove it".

I imagine he and his friend are now the laughing stock of this office. I actually cringed when I read it.

Do I email the people myself and apologise and explain he is only 9 or stay out of it?

aww I think i would be inclined to email - but if you either tell them who you mean, or use his address with a reply-to your address.

if my 9 year old was confident enought to be sending emails like that, i would be showing off. complete proud mummy moment.
it would only be cringeworthy if it was an 17 year old doing it.

Oh I am proud and admire (and support) his motivation with this (I have already told him he is to buy me a big house in California when it all takes off ) but I hate to think of a load of office nerds in america somewhere laughing at him...

Oh god how adorable. You won't need nudie photos of him to embarrass him when he's 16 and bringing his first girl friend home. I would leave it to him but monitor it, in case somebody at the office is having a bad day and doesn't reply too nicely.

I bet the guys in the office think it is dead cute and are not laughing 'at them' at all.
I think he sounds really cool in a gorgeous slightly geeky kind of way. Like my DS1 was at that age. DS1 wrote to the PM when he was 6 and I stuck that on the wall.

I've just read a few more of his emails...job applications from pre-teens all over the world to work on his site! I've just read one from a 12 year old in America saying "I realise your a-team is invitation only but "pencilshavings" said I should apply anyway. I am good at grammer, speak 4 languages and am the most mature 12 year old you will ever meet. I really hope I get the job."

And another one from a lad asking if he can work for them saying he knows HTML and would be willing to 'apply his knowledge' to their site DS then replied "thanks. Unfortunately our HTML staff are too high, however you can still help and if you know C++ thats even better".

God knows where he's advertising all this...

What upsets me the most is that his dad is an actual professional web designer and could help them make a brilliant site but he can't be arsed

Wow MrsSnape. What a fab 9 year old. Good on him. It's perfectly healthy to have grand aspirations at this age. Good for him. I too would be proud and encouraging.

But mrssnape if your dh was doing it all for them he wouldn't be doing what he is.

That's too cool. I'd just leave him to it, he's doing brilliantly. Would only intervene if someone is nasty, in which case I would write to that someone and explain so they can apologise.

I would send them a mail asking them to be kind and not to mention to your DS that you mailed them
