So, what are teh things you will essentially need when starting a degree...

what things can you not do wihtout...which are just extra perks...

Xerox = photocopier

BBBee · 07/09/2008 14:07

a pen you like and some nivce lined papaer.

have in your head that you will sort a filing system - but unitl you start you won't know what will work best.

I have box files for each unit and lever arch files for topic notes - but I would never had known that beforehand.

A diary and a wall planner have been great for me in terms of planning ahead and being able to eyeball how many weeks until a deadline.

a memory stick

3andnomore · 07/09/2008 14:08

thank you ipod...that is really nice of you
There is another Mumsnetter starting her OT course this year (at a different University)...we were thinking maybe doing an OT study support thread
but will definitely put your E-mail addi into my addibook for future references

Btw...when they say full time and say you are at University 4 1/2 days a week....what sort of times can I expect to be in and out...(obviously know that it will vary...but just as a guide...what are University timings...9am-5pm for Lectures??? or something like that?

oh plus a sense of humour and a reduction in standards for how you house looks and how much cooking from scrathc you do (but don;t tell 10/10!!)

3andnomore · 07/09/2008 14:10

oh yes, got a memory stick!

3littlefrogs... at me thinking it was a vending machine....

BBBee....yes, I suppose a lot of things I will have to work out as I go along...like filing, etc...

Oh, and the little cards on fridge etc...I probably will end up doing that....

Thanks 3andnomore for mentioning me too! Can I join in with the mentoring too ipod - I will be starting a course at Sheffield Hallam in just over 2 weeks. I will also be interested in the timetable side of things too. I still don't know when I will be at uni and what to expect so am having a mare organising childcare.

Think I am definitely going to invest in those box files and diary. Already have the pens etc. I didn't realise you had to pay for photocopying and printing at uni

ipodtherforipoor · 07/09/2008 21:43

of course you can - its not easy being green

Ah - thanks ipod

Very worried about the household standards slipping. Am a bit anal about that anyway. Eeek!

ipodtherforipoor · 08/09/2008 07:59

household standards have all but disapeared here! I didn't have DS when I was traiing so all power to you both for doing it! I did however get pregnant around the time of completing my disertation so watch yourselves in 3 years time or it could be an exciting first job fo you both!

3andnomore · 08/09/2008 09:54
