Feeling very tempted to go over to the dark side. Talk to me about pockets...

DD has been in two-parters full time since she was a week or two old. Bamboozels in the day and Bambeasy at night, both with the trusty Airflow.

Anyway, she's 9 1/2 months now and quickly becoming impossibly wriggly more mobile. I swore I wouldn't be tempted to try pockets, but the time has come

I'm looking for something that will fit until she potty trains. She's already getting an idea of how aplix works, so I suppose poppers are the way forward.

I've already got quite a lot of boosters: 12 each of Bambineo/Bambinex/Geobel and some cotton ones about the some length as the bamboo but broader. Oh, and a few Ella's House hemp too. It would be handy if I could use them in the pockets. Is that likely to be possible?

I'm not in the UK but will need to order them there, if there is somewhere I could get, say, 3 types to try that would be great. Postage costs and all that...

So pocket lovers, do your worst

I typed a long and detailed reply to this last night but you'll be relieved to hear that my (d)d deleted the lot before I could post it during the first of her many two hour long tantrums.

What I wanted to say was something along the lines of this...

You'd probably find that you can use pockets for the subsequent children child if you buy a good quality sized pocket nappy such as Pocket Bots or Fuzzis. I have had a third hand, well used Fuzzi which worked perfectly well - the PUL had survived well as had the poppers. The one thing you have to watch with pockets is the leg elastic - once this stretches you'll get leaks around the legs. With shaped nappies that go under wraps its not a problem but with pockets you've only got the one barrier and if that fails... What I have found with BGV2 and V1 is that once they have been used on a toddler they sometimes cannot be used again on a newborn as the elastic has been stretched too much - you may find that this would be a problem on other btp pocket nappies too.

I think your best bet would be to stick with the Bambeasies and move over to popper fit. I haven't used them as a pull up so can't comment on how that would work but if you really don't want to be messing around trying to find another 'perfect nappy' then I think you'd be best sticking with what you know works for you and your DD. If the Size 1 works for your DD now through the night then there is a good chance the size 2 will be absorbant enough for her during the day right up until potty training. The wraps, being sized, are very likely to last for at least one more child (if you use motherease). The elsatic in some of my DD2s nappies might as well not be there for all it does but they still do not leak onto the airflow wraps I put over them as the wrap holds the nappy tightly enough against her leg to contain as neccessary.

I'm surprised to read what readyforanothercoffee has to say about the Motherease nappies. They are usually very hard wearing and I have known them to be used on 5 subsequent children (although they didn't look too pretty by the time the 5th had used them). The nappy market changes so much that it is hard to know which nappies will last for 2 or 3 children because people often ring the changes but Motherease have been out for years and have stood up to the test in most cases IME. That said I cannot stand MEOS - Sandy's rule! Sticking with a sized, shaped nappy means that each one will see less use than if you used a btp.

Bamboozles tend not to stand the test of time at all - the Size 1s are fine but for some reason a lot of people do not get on with the Size 2 (me included).

The wriggly stage does pass (quite quickly if you're lucky) in the meantime I hope you find a nappy solution that works.

Thanks BBM

I know what you mean about the Bamboozles, the size ones were heavenly but the size twos are worthless. Well, they work but they are bulky and the fit is crap. You'd never know they were supposed to be the same nappy!

How do you rate Bambeasy?

I rate all the easy peasy range quite highly (DS is bumbled up for bedtime). I think their design and fit is fantastic. I don't know if the bamboo would last for more than one DC though (the cotton ones are prone to crunchiness over time) but if not I still think you get your moneys worth.
