Yep leave them, it does soften a bit, but don't expect them to feel tumbled.

Even better is frost in winter, softens them up a treat.

Rainwater is v soft water so if you live in a hard water area they will benefit from a rinse in a bucket of collected rainwater then a spin.

I had no idea! I always re-wash my clothes and nappies if they have been rained on - maybe i should leave them next time then?

We are lucky, our water isn't hard, you learn something new every day!

It does keep them softer, but does also wear them faster, unless they are hemp which you need to tumble occasionally or they start to smell 'musty'.
