The day ds1 was tall enough to use the surface without standing on anything (he's only 5)

The day your toddler says sorry unprompted.

The day your children come to a compromise without your interference help.

The day your toddler uses a calm voice to calm YOU down and says 'It's okay Mama'.

the day your child says "why is that woman so fat mummy" in the supermarket queue

the day your child says " I love you mummy"

Their first swear word [proud mother emoticon]

Overmydeadbody · 20/08/2008 10:49

The day they discover they can pick their nose

And agree with TeeBee, the day they calm you down.

The day your DS says "It's ok mummy, I think you are just stressed today, do you want a cup of tea?" when you have had a go at them for something completely trivial and not their fault at all

ShowOfHands · 20/08/2008 10:49

The day they help themselves to food/drink from the kitchen.

Overmydeadbody · 20/08/2008 10:49

Oh yes, their first swear word!

definitely first swear word.
First lie.

mangolassi · 20/08/2008 10:58

For dd, first time she wai'd (bowed to) a Buddhist temple (can't think of an English equivalent to that!)

TheCrackFox · 20/08/2008 11:03

The day they tell you that you are beautiful.
The day they work out how to open the front door and nearly give you a heart attack.

Still waiting for the day they can make me a cup of tea. Major milestone IMO.

ghosty · 20/08/2008 11:05

The day they say, "Can I play too?" when they catch you, um, ahem, well, you know ...

seeker · 20/08/2008 11:07

My ds's year2 teacher said that generally boys learn how to armpit fart in the last term of year 2, and peak in the first half of year 3. That is why, she said, she doesn't want to be a year 3 teacher!

TeeBee · 20/08/2008 12:23

The day they fart and say 'that wasn't me'.
