My DS is only 5 and his best friend is a girl of the same age who he has known all his life! Their favorite games are mums and dads and hospitals. This has been fine for the last five years but i am dreding them getting older and still wanting to play it!!! Dressing up is always a good standby if poss. Hope this may help a bit.

Videos are sounding good!!!!!! I always said i would never be a mum who let their kids watch tv all day. They dont watch all day by a long shot but it does have its momment when i dont know what i would do without it.

Painting? colouring? Middling film like The Iron Giant or something, The Lion King, not too girly or boyish? Running races in the garden or park? Get the girls into beyblade competitions? Twister? Snakes and ladders? Cooking?

my dd loves colouring and jigsaws and games (tho see your point about ds3 trashing them).
Yes how about dressing up?
We often have boys and girls over to play with our 3 (ds1, dd, ds2) and they sometimes pair up by age, sometimes by sex, tho the latter more often of late sadly (ie DD (3) is more likely to play with DS1's 5yo girl friend).
Is it too cold to get down to the park, surely all sexes love that? Playmobil is very popular with everyone in this house (and i know you love it coddy )

All my friends have boys of various ages ranging from 4 to 12. My dd is the only girl but it has never stopped her joining in the games with any of them. Maybe I'm lucky (she's never been the 'Barbie' type) or maybe it's just that she's never known any different.

Perhaps you could just wait and see how your niece gets on, but have some activities in reserve in case she looks a bit left out?

swimming (but maybe you don't have enough adults to kids); anything outdoorsy, playground, adventure area, any decent museums near you?, board games
