My DD has got the most beautiful curls. But what on earth am I meant to do to tame them?

Her hair has never been cut and she is 22mo. It has just got to the stage that its almost going in her eyes at the front and if I don't part it it does go in them. She will occasionally tolerate a clip but it is getting wilder and wilder, it sort of grows upwards and outwards not down! It is gorgeous but should I be conditioning it? Parting it? Getting a fringe cut? Wasn't sure which topic to go on but it didn't really feel like style and beauty!

My dd now 2.2 has the same hair but I was told by my sister(who is hairdresser btw) not to use adult hair products as it is to many chemicals for baby hair and can be damaging.

I use baby detangle spray you can get in boots or somewhere and spray it into the big fuzzy mess that i'm met with every morning and tease into into place. I only comb it when it's just been washed and conditiond.

Baby hair is so fine that it knots and breaks really easily especially curly hair but stick with it , let it grow and as she gets older it will thicken and look less crazy! once it reaches a length where it can be tied up it's sooo much easier.

My dd had the same problem with fringe and would not wear clips but I left it to grow out anyway, she still won't wear clips but will let my tie it back.

At least they can get away with it being a bit mad at their age!!!

dd has shoulder length hair. main thing is not to do anything to it dry. always make sure it's wet before handling it really.

so we wash it once a week with halos and horns shampoo. leave it to dry naturally of course, combing in through with a wide comb as it gets damp rather than wet. it then falls into nice curls as it dries. if it goes a bit poofy or the wind gets it then i wet it again, just a bit, and scrunch the curls up again or wind them round my finger.

pretty much what i do with my own hair except i have to use product to tame it as i have more hair, and i can't quite get away with toddler style fuzzy wild ringlets!

I agree mumchie it is cute when it looks mad at their age. And ruddynora my mum ALWAYS brushes my dd's hair when its dry and it makes it look huge! Halos and horns is that a childrens one? Aveda sounds good citylover but I'd be jealous her hair stuff was better than mine!

yes halos and horns is a very gentle formulation range for bathtime. no additives etc that cause eczema in some children. but it still comes in funky packaging, has a nice smell and does make a few bubbles..so not as boring as most eczema type shampoo stuff.

lol at your mum btw. know what you mean. when dd has stayed the night with SIL or MIL she always ends up a big frizz ball cos they just don't know what to do with it.
