Is Bambi too traumatic for a 3 year old?

Found it for 50p in the charity shop and was about to put it on for DS1 when I remembered being a little 'un way back in the 70s at a Saturday matinee showing at the cinema and crying my eyes out when Bambi's mother copped it.

Anyone seen it recently? Is DS going to be upset?

I think a 3 year old is more likely to be bored (whoosh - there it goes, right over his head) than upset

My DD2 (3) adores Bambi. I managed to smuggle it out of the house and return it to the library yesterday after five weeks of rental. DD2 told me that she likes it because it is scary (she got that from her big sister). They have lovely games pretending to be Bambi and Thumper. Neither of them give a damn that the mother dies (sob).

I am another Anti-Dumbo Protestor - it's far too upsetting!

Thanks Harpo, the post-Bambi trauma therapy worked well until Lion King set me back a number of years. Watership Down is never to be mentioned in this house either.

Finding Nemo makes perfect sense without first bit...

Well, it does here and to my 2 year old

Daddy doesn't want Nemo to go to school cos he's nervous (ok, so missing the subtext of WHY but really...). Nemo goes to school anyway. Daddy says NO but Nemo is naughty and goes and touches the boat - he then gets lost and Daddy goes to find him. Nemo is sad because he can't find his Daddy. Daddy is sad because he can't find Nemo. Then they are happy because they find each other- voila!!

though no squirrels...

Would prob show the first scene now though as she is bit older - stories are a great way to work through emotions... Dd LOVES being scared in Monsters INc.
