Do you keep all your children's baby clothes?

The "keeping things your kids make for you" thread got me thinking about this one - I know there are those who hoard all the baby things, clothes, booties, wooolens, baby toys etc. My neighbour was amazed that I could give anything away, as she has kept everything (her girls are 8 and 10!) I have kept the little dresses that dm and dmil gave dd when she was a baby, plus a couple of fave outfits, the handknits, and a couple of ds' cutest outfits too. But the rest gets recycled to the salvo's or some I sell on online auctions (no I am not flogging my site - since I live in Australia I don't think it would be worth the postage, not to mention the exchange rate!), which is definitely more for fun than profit. Toys too have been given away or "traded in" at a secondhand toyshop.

So do you keep ALL their tiny baby clothes? And shoes? And toddler things too...?

dd hasn't had anybody elses clothes, but she does have my rag doll in her nursery, dressed in one of my sisters baby dresses. She was pushed about in my brothers Silver Cross - lovingly rechromed by my dad, and slept in my sisters moses basket for the first few weeks (new mattresses all round obviously) I love the fact that they have that connection with their family - and the old stuff is such good quality.

Jasper - suggest you contact your local women's refuge to see if they need childrens' clothes, I used to help in one & if mum & children had had to flee the home quickly they could arrrive with nothing.

Thanks Lindy, that is a great idea. I actually noticed one of their ads in the library last week.

Hi, I am living in South Africa and we have reached a financial dip lately. I have two daughters one aged 6 months and the other is turning 4. I am desperately needing clothes for them but cant afford to buy any at the moment. I am hoping that there may be a generous kind hearted mom who can help me by giving me some clothes for my girls. If any one has clothes that are too small for their daughter/s that they can please send to me. My postal address is Postnet Suite 4243, Private Bag X82329, Rustenburg South Africa, postal code 0300.

I would really appreciate any help from any one.

Natalie.

Natalie - I have googled for you and found that there is Freecycle in south africa. You could put a wanted there. link here

That might help you more quickly and would save people sending clothes overseas, with the postage costs that entails.

hth.

And to answer OP - nope, not a thing. Chucked it all away / gave it away.
