Would I be out of order to sell their toys?

I am scrimping and saving for a holiday in the US at the moment (Disney for the kids) and someone suggested selling stuff on ebay. I didn't think it would work but after selling two DVDs and an old top I made £20. I've become a little addicted and went around the house gathering old books, CDs, DVDs...all listed and slowly bringing in money which I intend to save for chrismas so I can still get the kids decent presents whilst saving for this holiday.

Anyway I am now considering selling some of the kids stuff. DS1 has 2 full boxes of megablox dragons stuff that he has NEVER bothered with. People (his dad mainly) just kept buying him them for christmas and birthdays and he's never played with it. After looking on ebay this kind of stuff is selling quite well....

And also DS2 has a box full of thomas the tank engine track which again he's never played with and is probably too old for it now anyway at 7. That too seems to sell well on ebay.

Would it be mean to sell their stuff considering it wasn't me who bought it in the first place? all of the money is going on buying Xbox and wii games off ebay for christmas for them which I know for certain they WILL bother with...

I think it is fine. You can always ask them if it is okay

I would,

My house is full of crap they never play with, we are planning a car boot sale

But then again, whenever I bring out something to get rid of that they have not bothered with for months it suddenly becomes their favorite toy

I wouldn't worry about the fact it wasn't you that bought the toys in the first place. But I would tell your boys what you are selling and why as it would be a good opportunity for them to see how holidays etc have to be paid for!

My ds recently sold some of his toys he has never really played with including Thomas track, Thomas trains (sold really well), ELC castle and knights etc.

He made about £200 which he is saving at the moment.
