Please help, ds's wee has suddenly developed the *rankest* smell!

He's 14m and his wet nappies suddenly smell so acrid - of onions - I can't bear it. Had to get up and change him at 2:45 this morning as the smell was making me gag. It's just as bad during the day, am having to change him every 2hrs or he's enveloped in an eye-watering stink cloud.

Not sure whether it's his wee itself or his nappies?

He's in terries so I know these will smell worse than plastics. I use little powder (3 tbsps) and usually 60 degrees though have done a couple at 95 just in case that helped (it didn't).

He loves playing "drinking" and always has water available to him as well as me offering frequently - I don't know how I can get any more into him.

Any clues, anyone?

We get this occasionally, usually linked to eating broccoli . It usually passes in a day or so and I don't treat the nappies any differently - so it's definitely the wee I think. I agree though it is RANK at the time, and we do night time changes when it happens and I'm always almost convinced she has pooed (but she never has).

We get it too sometimes and I agree, it is grim. You could try hanging the nappies in the sun as much as possible but probably not today! It will just pass by itself as Lionstar says.

broccoli??? really?? - huh! [bamboozled]

ds LOVES broccoli, will snatch it out of shopping and eat raw if possible. It could well be that, he had some cooked bits in both lunch and dinner last night. Not that I actually saw any go into him, huh!

thanks for that lionstar, I will scientifically test this theory - once I get over being flabbergasted!

I know, DD loves broccoli too, so I put up with it in the interests of getting green veg down her neck. Other things that have had a whiffy effect on pee are garlic and cabbage - which she also loves, but DP doesn't, so figures less on the menu.

he doesn't seem to manage cabbage yet but I do cook a LOT with garlic. this could explain things...
