Am I being utterly mad to want my baby boy to wear a gown at his baptism?

Feel like I need some clarity here.
My 8month old son is being baptised soon and both me and DH would really like him to wear a traditional long Christening gown.
i know these days boys tend to wear rompers or little shorts and a tshirt, but I’d still prefer him to wear a gown - i think!
BUT is this ever a done thing nowadays? Am I being utterly mad to want my son to wear a long dress at his baptism? Even if it’s not your preference, if you went to a christening service of a friend and they had their son in a gown would you think they were odd?
The gown I have ordered is pictured. It’s the most unisex one I could find and I do think it’s plain enough for him to wear. It’s arrived and it’s lovely but not sure if people will just think it’s weird when they see him in it 😂

You might want to practice holding him when he's wearing the gown, as they can be a bit unwieldy and end up getting crushed if gathered up under the baby.

And also very slippery!

Too much importance on the clothing. I tend to find Christians who attend church don’t place that much importance on the outfits but more on the every day church attendance and the symbols of the christening - being a child of God. Being welcomed into the church. The beginning of their Christian path in life

You want to hear the conversations clergy have about their clothing! And we tend to be in church every Sunday.

Special clothing has long been associated with the sacraments and with other "high days and holy days". They're not essential and yes, there is a risk that they are given too high a priority, but people usually do mark significant occasions with special clothes. And often, as seen in this thread, as a marker of continuity of faith across the generations.

And also very slippery!

The first child I baptised was handed to me by his father with a warning to "watch out - he's very slippy!"

@AlblessI know a lot of clergy and that is so true. 🤣🤣

My daughter wore a baptismal gown, she was 8 months. She looked lovely. After the ceremony, once we´d left the church, we changed her into normal clothes. What is weird about that? I like your choice. Very nice gown.
Oh, and edited to add, ours was a gown used by quite a few kids before mine. I liked that.
