Should I just let her learn a lesson?

Too young at 10 months to "learn her lesson" imo. Get her a crash helmet or find her somewhere else to play!

Ahhh, she's only a baby (mine are older, won't have any more babies so your DD can do no wrong in my book, so feel free to ignore my response)

Can you distract her? her, put her in the lounge with some toys? give her something to eat for long enough that she forgets all about her new-found den?

Far too young to link cause and effect. Believe me it will get worse when she can crawl/toddle and has no common sense. Be prepared for many months of distracting and moving to safer territory.

My Dh reckoned one of those sumo suits would have been useful for rookietoddler.

Can you find something to put under the stairs to keep her out of that bit? Just at the short part, and let her play where she won't bump herself.

Can you find some sponge something-or-other to tape up so that she doesn't bang her head but still gets to explore in there?

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 16:49

Ds is also 10 months and keeps hiting his head on the table. I was moving him away after a little hug and kiss better but he was straight back over there to do it again and again and again. Now he doesn't cry or anything and continues to do it so I just leave him, unless he gets upset.
I think 10 months is too early for them to be able to learn a lesson, but they can understand the word no.

Yeah, sorry to harp on about sponge, but...My DS always used to bump his head on our coffee table so my husband just put sponge on everything until they were a bit less likely to knock themselves out. Looks crap but means you won't be on tenter hooks the whole time.

I didn't use sponge...I rolled up all our odd socks (of which we have scores - at least I found a use for them!) and taped them to the edges of the furniture. It looked extremely odd but did the trick
