I’d really love to hear some positive experiences from anyone who is mixed Black and white in the UK, or who has mixed Black and white children. ❤️ There’s so much negativity and frightening rhetoric around at the moment, particularly online, and as a mum of mixed-race children I sometimes find myself worrying about what their future will look like. So I’d love this thread to be about the positives. If you’re mixed yourself, what has growing up and living in Britain been like for you? Have you generally felt accepted and comfortable in your identity? And do you think things are better for mixed-race children growing up today than they were in previous generations? Or, if you have mixed children, what have their experiences been like? I’d especially love to hear about the ordinary positive stuff — friendships, school, relationships, feeling included, diversity being completely normal to their peers, and anything else that makes you feel optimistic about their future. I know racism still exists and I’m not trying to minimise that. I’ve just read enough of the frightening stuff lately and would really appreciate hearing the positive side too. Please share the good stuff! ❤️
