15 month old screaming all day

My 15 month old son's current preferred method of communication is screaming and having a meltdown. I've lost track of how many today, it just seems constant. It's about everything and anything and I'm getting anxious about going anywhere with him!

Is this normal, and how can I manage it? Its honestly giving me a headache and I'm very overstimulated by it...

Is he unwell at all? They all scream of course but if it’s consistent all day/for days this is abit odd?

I think he's teething (molars), I'd say he's been like it for about a week!

Give him some calpol if it might be pain

Teething molars would be my guess! What do you try to distract him from it?

If you think it’s teething what have you tried to ease it?

I’d also go to a pharmacist and get them to check his ears for an infection (they can do this for age 1+ years now).

Sorry Op, that sounds really hard for you.

The truth is, I don't think this is normal and it sounds to me as though your baby is unwell. Ear infection was a good suggestion.

If it's teething, it sounds as though he needs something to help with that. Mine sailed through teething: some do, and some really suffer.

I don't think 15 months is developmentally a hugely tantrumy stage, so I would certainly see the GP. Hope you and your little one feel better soon.👼

Definitely wouldn’t say it’s normal. Sounds like there is something going on. Definitely get his ears checked and if it is bad teething try a couple of days of rotating calpol and ibuprofen until he’s over the worse of it.

I would be giving pain relief (nurofen and anbesol liquid) and GP tomorrow. Although if he is actually screaming rather than just a usual cry I would try and get an out of hours appointment.

Thanks for the advice! Have been alternating calpol and nurofen for the teething. One molar has popped through but he's gnawing on the other side now.

He also seems frustrated that he can't communicate what he wants to with me! And he suddenly dislikes the car seat / high chair/ pram/changing table!

We stopped using the highchair around that age because mine could climb out of it! Changing table similar so we ditched the table, shoved the mat on the bathroom floor and switched to pull ups!

Parenting is such a ride! As soon as you think you've cracked an age/stage, they like to show us different.

Fingers crossed it eases for you soon.

Mention that to the GP Op. It could also be a pain sitting/lying on his back.

It's so hard when they can't just say "My teeth are aching" or "My bum hurts"!
