Emergency dentist?

My 3 year old fell off a garden chair and hit his mouth on a table as he fell. His lip is hugely swollen and his front tooth is now wobbly and painful but not quite coming out yet. Does he need an emergency dentist or should I wait for his tooth to fall out?

Make him an emergency dentist appointment tomorrow to get it checked. Similar happened to DD at that age - there wasn’t much that they could do, eventually the tooth died and turned grey. It fell out normally within the standard timescale though and her adult teeth were fine underneath, thank goodness.

This happened to my DS when he was nearly 4, his lip was huge and he had to drink through a straw. His tooth wasn't very loose but it went grey and had to be removed about a year later as he had a slight infection in the gum but his adult tooth was perfect underneath and grew normally. His lip did look very slightly swollen for a long while but did eventually go completely normal but it took probably a couple of years. I did take him to the dentist as this was in the days of children having access to NHS dentist but nothing was done, it was just left to see how it went.

Thank you. I took him to the dentist and they gave him antibiotics as his lip had gone even worse this morning so they think it might be infected. Going back in a week and if his teeth are still wobbly they will have to remove both his front teeth! Hopefully won’t affect his adult teeth but they won’t know until around age 7.
