Has anyone else's baby had ankles turning inwards at nine months?

My 9 month olds ankles seem to turn inwards slightly, more his right than his left. When standing he will sometimes stand on a rolled ankle also and when he's climbing up to stand he will use the sides of his feet rather than being flat footed. When sitting down his right one nearly sits at a 90° angle, not sure if this is more comfortable for him or not. When he was only a few months old it was recognised he had bowed ankles so to do physio exercises with him, which we did do but as he's got older it makes him cry like it's painful so we have stopped.

I contacted the Health Visitor about all of this who said its fine, he will grow out of it (baring in mind she hasn't seen him) and not to take him to the GP as its something normal. I contacted the GP anyway and sent them in photos and they want to see him tomorrow!

But has anyone else's baby had this, what did it lead to? Or did your baby grow out of it?

Worried Mummy 😢

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Both of mine were born with positional talipes. My eldest one foot, youngest both. They spotted it in my first born in hospital and I pointed it out in my youngest.

No treatment for DD1 ( gave us some exercises at home) but DD2 had physio for a few weeks where they manipulated her feet and showed us what to do.

DD2 was later diagnosed with Hypermobility and DD1 almost certainly is Hypermobile too. I don’t think the 2 conditions are linked at all but I’m not medical.
Both bottom shuffled and walked late 16 and 19 months.

It’s good that you are seeing the GP. Children can turn their feet in but it’s not good that the HV gave advice without even looking.
Hopefully you will get some reassurance and answers tomorrow and possibly a referral if needed

My daughter also had positional talipies, diagnosed at birth, we had a few sessions of physio where they gave exercises but the main thing that helped was waiting until she started walking (which was later than usual) and they started straightening themselves. Also really important to go to a good shoe shop that can help you get shoes with the right level of support-- the physio told us to get her shoes earlier than normal and not the "first walker" ones as they didnt have ankle support.

Thank you so much 🙌 i just needed that reassurance! Was a bit upset that the HV just dismissed it straight away without even coming to see my boy. Hopefully the GP will recognise this and give us some physio or advice like yourselves have 🥹
