Is the UK still a safe place for mixed race families?

I have a beautiful mixed race family (African and white British)

I am aware of the rise of open racism and discrimination on within the media and politics and it has as times scared me tot the core to think my kids are potential headed for a future of potential harm and inequality.

However. I’d like to hear those who feel the country is still a relative safe place for middle class, biracial families. That perhaps beyond the scare mongering. The country is overall ‘good hearted’, fair and wanting to work towards a safer society.

Love to hear experiences and thoughts (ideally positive) .

I'd love to think so OP but I know a number of our society are (barely) closeted racists and now feel they have just cause to express it.

I imagine it depends hugely where you live tbh.

Depressing times.

I think a lot depends where you live - Clacton maybe not so good, but we are in outer London and it's pretty normal to have all colours of family. Although our kids are still very young, there hasn't really been anything overt yet. Maybe there's different treatment but it's hard to separate sexism and racism from people just having a bad day.

From my experience, as long as you don’t inconvenience anyone it’s fine, the abuse I tend to get is when my children got a school place and a white child didn’t, it’s treated as theft, and when you park somewhere and the attitude is that you shouldn’t even be here let alone take up a parking space, and if you have the audacity to complain about anything, well we could always go home.
Basically if you don’t mind being blamed for the traffic, lack of housing, crowded towns and be seen as like a thief if you take a dentist or doctor or hair appointment then you’ll be fine.
But there is real resentment towards us if we use any resources, except of course if we are the doctor or dentist then it’s fine that we exist.
