3 year old resisting sleep and later bedtimes, any advice?

How do you get your 3 year old to sleep? My dd has never been a good sleeper. Always a very early riser and difficult to get her to fall asleep. Dropped her naps before 2 years old. Barely napped as a baby. However, she’s pushed her bedtime past 8pm now and she used to fall asleep prior to 8pm. Tried all sorts to maintain a calm environment but she doesn’t really need sleep. Anyone else experienced this?

What time is she up for the day? How much physical exercise does she do each day (not just pottering in the garden or walking around Tesco, stuff like swimming/cycling/running around the woods)?

My DS takes a while to unwind so I’ve always put him to bed around 30 minutes before I’m expecting him to be asleep and just after his 3rd birthday I moved his bedtime out to 8pm with the plan for him to be asleep by 8:30 because he was starting to mess about when I was doing 7/7:30. He’s not an early riser though. I wake him at 7:15 on nursery days and he sleeps until 8 on non nursery days. We got the story dream projector and 3 books then he listens to his tonie box in bed with his teddies to fall asleep

Wakes up between 5-6am and loads of exercise.

It doesn’t matter if she’s asleep at 7.30, 8 or 9 she always wakes early.

Is she in a mostly good mood in the day? Or does she seem tired?

If she's in a good mood I'd put her to bed at 8pm and leave a few (boring) toys with her like books and cuddlies and she can just fall asleep when she's ready.

Some of them just honestly need less sleep. The recommendation for 3 is at least 10 so I guess if we are talking a 6am wake up an 8pm bedtime would be more ideal but if she’s willing to lie in her bed with boobs/audiobooks etc and rest that’s still good

My daughter has always gone to bed around 8pm, if she's generally fine mood-wise then she's getting enough sleep. At that age I think you can insist she stays in her room from a certain time with some boring toys or books or audiobooks, so she's in a quiet environment resting, even she doesn't necessarily go to sleep.
