Holidays with three young children

Two children. 4 years in a few months and 18 months. Just found out I’m pregnant. Not planned. Not unwanted but seriously ill timed for various reasons. Oldest starts school next year. We are in Scotland. Really wanted to make the most of not having to book a holiday during school holidays but I’ll have a third baby next year. I wanted to make it an extra special trip for my eldest. Maybe some kind of camping or eurocamp in Italy or similar. But I’ll have a new baby. I don’t know what I’m asking.
Where can we go with a young baby in late June when I’ll be 10-12weeks post c section. Or do we just go in the school holidays

Maybe I am actually asking how does having three children actually work? Financially and with family life. Will we ever go abroad again?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have 3 and we haven't been abroad since we just had one, for various reasons.
Getting hotels for 3 can be a bit tricky I've found (ive been looking). Car hire is more expensive to get cars that will fit car seats in. Transfers need to be in bigger vehicles too.

Looking forward to reading other responses, as mine probably isn't that helpful 😬

Ah OP, it's a shame that the timing has worked out like this, but personally I wouldn't want to go to eurocamp in Italy when I was 10 weeks post partum. I think maybe give it a miss next year and save the money for the year after?

I have three DC close in age. Our first holiday with all three was a villa in France when the youngest was 10 months old - that was nice.

I have three and I favoured AI holidays, especially when they were younger. I know they get a bad rap on Mumsnet but you just need to research properly. As the kids got older we've been able to do different sorts of holidays but when they are young not having to cook or clean for a few weeks is bliss.

What’s your budget?

I would maybe look at a self catering apartment on a complex. You get the best of both worlds and can retreat to the apartment for meals and down time. Villas are great but often need a car

We have 3 kids and have holidayed uk and abroad - it’s harder when they’re younger granted!
the biggest thing will be 10-12 weeks post c-section as you have no idea how you’re going to be.
id hang fire booking something until nearer the time and see how you feel, there will always be something available.

Try a Holiday Village. I did Turkey this year (20 mins from airport so not a long transfer), and it was brilliant. Kids clubs to book into during the day for all ages (you’d pay for the toddler), activities all through the day, places to chill if you don’t want to engage in that.

The food was excellent. Ice cream on tap.

We managed some nice down time whilst the kiddos went into the kids clubs (all British staff with UK childcare qualifications).

I am eyeing up another Holiday Village for next year!

(I have also done the Costa Del Sol one which I wouldn’t recommend due to the food, which was poor, but would 100% do Turkey again if the price was right.)
