Right, dd1 just refused to put night-nappy on...

... having previously been positively proud to wear a night-nappy (she's 4.6) tonight for the first time she said she didn't want one "I'm a lady now, Mummy"

Have gone with her decision, even though her nappy is SODDEN every morning (though I do suspect she is a lazy wee-er )

What would you have done?

Yes, am talking not drinking excessively before bed (her choice, btw), weeing before bed and weeing on waking

Her pull-up is the smae, sometimes heavier than her 22m old sister

Have had a few completely dry ones too, though, but not often enough for me to think "Let's get going with this"

But as I said, I do think she is the type to wake in the middle of the night and just do it in her nappy, rather than get up and go to the loo, so who knows...

Perhaps you could invent a nappy monitor that sets off a loud alarm, flashing lights and shakes her out of bed... Dragons den awaits.

Ooh, I do like that programme!

But that Deborah woman would scare the shit out of me

I liked the little Kiwi chap, but he's not on it anymore...

At 4.6 I wouldn't be that worried. 25% of dcs at that age are not dry at night.

I read somewhere that a hormone needs to kick in to slow down wee production when you are asleep and if that hasn't happened yet, no end of putting her on the toilet every hour will help. It's not the same as training during the day. They just can't help it at night.

notnowbernard · 25/06/2008 20:32

Yes, I have heard about the hormone thing and I do believe it

But I think I do need to test whether dd has any control or not. She doesn't get remotely concerned if she wets herself in the day, so she really isn't going to care at night, is she? So I don't really know if a wet nappy is the result of genuine night-time wetting or slackness

But if she's wet in the first hour of sleep, and not stirred, I feel she is not ready yet
