Why do teething toys not need sterilising like bottles and dummies?

little one is nearly 16 weeks and has started to put her hands in her mouth a lot I have a feeling she might be teething and could do with a teething toy. The nuby teething rings can’t be sterilised with any form of sterilisation. Do I just wash and rinse and give it to my baby
if it’s not important for a toy made to go in the mouth to be sterile then what’s the importance of sterilising bottles and dummies
Just trying to make sense of it as I know someone will know the exact logic as to why this is

You don’t need to sterilise anything at this age ? Her hands are not sterile either.

The sterilising is for bottles used with formula because these can get nasty. You can’t sterilise anything they take into their mouths, babies will grab everything around them and then put their hands in their mouths.

I used teething mittens at this age but gummee baby. They do a gummee glove for slightly older babies. Check them out, they're brilliant. Just wash them in your machine easy peasy

The issue with bottles is milk is perfect food for bacteria snc and bottles tend to have nooks and crannies that are difficult to make sure they are completely clean. Therefore sterilisation helps to stop bacterial growth. Teething toys can be cleaned adequately in soapy water.

Bottles contain milk/ are used to put milk in for feeding. Milk is the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and unsterilised bottles would be a huge risk for gastroenteritis.
Never used dummies, only had hard plastic teething rings. I did sterilise them and changed them frequently.

Only things that contain milk need sterilising. I never sterilised a dummy. It’s the formula or breastmilk that poses a risk, not the bottle itself.
