I am starting to freak out.. My 2 year old this past 3 nights has been coming out with strange things while she sleeps. 1st night as getting sleepy said “mummy I am going to die” when asked if she knew what dying meant said “no but I know I’m going to die”. Last night woke up crying “shouting mummy I am going to heaven”. Tonight woke up crying again when took in my arms looked at me and said “mummy I’m dying”. W

Is it possible she’s seen something on tv or on a screen that has scared her? Or a story in a book? Or overheard people talk about someone who’s sick or dying?
Where did the ideas come from I wonder.

Something at nursery?

She really advance for her age in all aspects but I’m just thinking is this her telling me she’s sick or I don’t know as I say 3 night in a row is crazy. We don’t talk about that stuff around her and is very rarely exposed to a tv and she’s recently now telling me things about family members she’s never met who have passed away about how my uncle who was in a wheelchair and things and there names stuff that she would never know at 2 years old it’s all just freaking me out now.

Could it be something another child has said to her? My sister went through a phase of being worried about dying at a similar age. It was after I had learned from someone in school about dying and that everyone dies. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to tell my sister about it (I was about 5). She had no concept of it being something that would happen in the far future and seemed to think if everyone dies she would be dying soon. It really scared her. But there was absolutely nothing wrong with her other than having an insensitive older sister.

I think this is something that can happen with kids under five? There are various well known cases of children doing this. It’s odd and freaky but wanes and they stop around age 5. Various “woo” theories as to why it happens. IMHO it’s best described as unexplained. I’ve no advice sorry! xx

Try to relax about your daughter's statements, you might have three or four
fascinating years ahead of you.
Visit Netflix Documentaries, "Surviving Death", episode 6.
I hope you find some comfort from the video. I'd be very interested to hear of
further developments as your daughter grows. Please keep us informed.
