Holiday destinations with 3-4 month baby?

Looking for recommendations for holiday destinations to take a 3-4 month old baby?

Ideally somewhere in Spain and any recommendations for specific hotels, resorts or airbnbs would be great!

Also as a FTM, is 3-4 months too young to take a baby away?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

3-4 months is perfect holiday time imo. you can go anywhere, if baby is formula fed just make sure you can drink the tap water otherwise it's a right pain.

Have you had the baby yet?

Some babies are portable. Some babies you absolutely will be regretting booking any sort of holiday.

Great age to travel. Get a room with a balcony. Have your main meal at lunch and, while baby is down for the evening, have good wine/cheese/bread/meats for tea on the balcony.

We did south of France when both of mine were 2-5 months old. I found it quite a good time to travel with as they slept through the short flight, were happy being pushed around in the pram whilst we did pretty much whatever we wanted, you don’t need to worry about food yet and you’re not in so fixed a routine that all hell breaks loose if they’re not in bed with blackout blinds by 7:30 😂 Get it in nowwww before they become unreasonable toddlers!

The best thing I did at that age was city breaks. We did whatever we wanted to do as adults. Museums, botanical gardens, bars and restaurants, markets, basically nothing family friendly. They are super portable and will just sleep in the evenings out, so you can drink wine and eat food and relax. Basically, any European city with good accessible public transport works well. Barcelona was great with a pram. Be mindful of temperatures though as July/August will be hot for a baby. We went in October and it was perfect weather.

I’m not sure they will just sleep when you want them to! Early evenings can be tricky with babies that young. If it were me, I’d do a UK break in a forest lodge with pool etc onsite. Maybe I’m less adventurous than some!

We took one to Florida for a Disneyworld holiday. The holiday was booked 2 years in advance, the babe was a surprise extra person 😬

Any! This is the easiest age to travel with for the next 18 years. I am very very happy that when I had just one baby I travelled a lot. My only job was to look after her, so I just strapped her to me, and essentially went on lots of the holidays I wanted to go on. Tbh, I wish I’d done more in hindsight.

Anywhere you want to go at that age, honestly. It's a great age to still travel (if you can put up with the lack of sleep). Think carefully about a place you REALLY want to see and go do that. Once they hit toddlerhood, it's much more difficult to do a long haul flight to Japan for example.

If you are formula feeding then you need somewhere with a kitchenette to be able to prep and sterilize properly but that's it.

I agree with the city breaks idea. Once your DC is mobile, until they're about 5, city breaks will be hard work and pointless. Enjoy them while you can.

mintleavesandthyme · 28/06/2026 08:43

absolutely anywhere. They are very portable at that age

We went to Marrakech and stayed in a lovely small riad. Sling was perfect during the day, everyone we met was cooing over the baby to an extraordinary degree, and in the evening we could put him in travel cot in the room with a baby monitor, and we’d sit in the central atrium bit of the riad, fully in view of our bedroom door, and enjoy food / mint tea on the comfy sofas in the warm evening air. Absolutely perfect.

Adding in case it’s useful - we stayed in Riad Darhani in Marrakech. It was 17 years ago so can’t vouch for it now but seems to still have great reviews on various websites.
