Bedroom between 27 and 30 degrees

Hey! New here and just looking for some advice. I’m really struggling to get my babies room temperature below 27 degrees, it’s around 30 degrees when she will be going to bed. I have reflective sheets in the windows as those see sun for the majority of the day, curtains closed and then will open the window in the evening when it gets cooler and there is a fan in there but the temperature stays the same, it’s so hot in there. If anyone can give any other suggestions I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you in advance x

Get really good black out blinds on the window.

Could you get a portable AC unit? Or one of those fans that has a cold water element to it, they're more effective than regular fans.

If that doesn't work try having her sleep somewhere else if you have any cooler rooms!

If there is any way of shading the window from outside that will also help.

Do you have ice to put in front of the fan? Apparently this can cool the thd room down.

There are a few hacks that talk about using a wet towel in front of the fan.

Nothing you can do/ just put your baby to sleep in a nappy only and it will be fine .

Unlikely.

Check the delivery dates available. You will struggle to get one anytime in the near future.

Yeah, delivery is a nightmare for a portable AC unit. We will probably buy one in the winter when there will be no stocking problems. Black out blinds may help, can only try. We already have one of those water fans and it’s useless unless you are 5cm away from it

Do you have her door open and all the windows in the house open for a bit of cross breeze?

ToddleAlong · 25/06/2026 06:33

My daughter’s room was 31 and ours 33 it was dire. She seemed to sleep fine just in a nappy and with a fan - I slept terribly! Solidarity OP!

Keep black out blinds closed all day, open windows early in morning to let out the heat then close them all day then do the same again in the evening when it’s cool to let the days hot air out and get a breeze in. We brought an air con unit a few years ago it was expensive but worth the Investment.

Put baby to sleep downstairs/ in a different room?
