Hi all, I have twins on the way in December & I have a 3 year old that was breastfed for over 2 years. Iv decided to formula feed the twins as breastfeeding really ruined my back, it was the hardest thing I ever done. and I can’t imagine BF 2 babies. Also will probably have c section this time and think with formula I can get more help with husband or sister’s feeding the babies.

I have no experience with formula making and have been trying to read what I can.
can anyone share with me their best methods making formula for twins? Any easy hacks? How did you do night time feeds? Also how many bottles would each baby need per day and how did you even carry so many bottles & hot water flasks when out? I was thinking to get a backpack just for the bottles/formula/flask. & keep nappies and clothes in a different bag? Or did you use a separate bag for each twin?

I have been seeing videos on the nuby rapid cool and the tommee tippee perfect prep.
i am also thinking to get the mom cozy bottle washer/ steriliser
everything is so expensive & breastfeeding was free and lightweight lol but anything to make things easier with twins. Thank you!

Yes I used to wash the rapid cool at night and sterilise so actually now I think about it i actually had two rapid cools. It wasn't to bad in terms of washing bottles, i think we just got into a little routine. My daughters neonatal nurse recommended the rapid cool but dont know if there's been any research on them since as this was over a year ago. We used cow and gate and no issues with the price, used to order double packs from morrisons

I will definitely check them thank you? How long did you manage to BF? The first 2 months are hard I remember I cried each time I BF but I pushed through then it got easy. I just feel like with twins I will give up easily. Especially with bleeding and engorgement issues. & leaking so much!

We are still BF at 8 months. First 2 months were definitely the hardest, and we probably “clicked” around 4 months, but we really persevered and it’s been so much easier than FF. It sounds like combi feeding could work for you and the BFT&T group can help with that too.

Hey!
I really couldnt read and not reply. I have twins, i breastfed, pumped and then formula fed so I understand alllll of the struggles! (And both suffered with reflux!)
Anyway, any newborn sets you in survival mode, so honestly, you do whats best for you sweet! ❤️

In terms of tips- feed them at the same time if you can. When mine were dinky, i used to sit cross legged and lay them in the middle, over my thigh (mirroring eachother). When they were a bit bigger I used 2 U shaped feeding pillows. It meant I could feed them, then lay them on their tummy almost over it whilst i rubbed their backs at the same time to wind them at the same time.

For night time feeds I used to take a flask of boiling water and a cup bottle of pre-boiled and refrigerated water to bed with me, then make up the formula with the boiling water 50% of the eay, and top it with the cold the remaining 50%. It was a life saver when I was in serious zombie mode!

Sending you all of the luck and love :)

Baby Brezza formula machine and they also do a washer that washes/sterilises/dries. Higher upfront cost but you’ll use it so much and it’ll be cheaper than pre-made stuff

I combination fed and the advantage was that it could be used for comfort and in times of sickness too, I sometimes breastfed more and sometimes used more bottles but having two kept supply going Persevere with the right number of pillows and a really comfortable supportive sofa; I found tandem feeding later was very convenient with baby on either side but at begining i did start feeding individually to get latch right. I also sought a lot of help from breasfeeeding consultant. Good news was no ear infections and no colic although dd did have some reflux

Didn't have perfect prep for any singles.Got the perfect prep for our twins, didn't like it at all waste of money and took longer than quickly making bottles with boiling water and scoops of formula plus very often wasn't dissolved properly and there have been recent concerns regarding it not actually heating the water correctly...for the first week we did ready made till we got into a routine then swapped to making our own
