Hi,

Options welcome! Without going all around the houses, these are my options when it comes to my little one starting school. I have no option but to use wrap around care.

I understand every child is different. From experience, which of the 2 options below seem best? ( These are the best I can adjust to!). There's half an hr travel time to factor in on top.

Thank you.

Option 1:

3 days of full wrap around care 7.45 - 5.50
2 days 'normal' 8.40-3.20

Option 2:

2 days 7.45 - 5.50 full wrap around
3 days 7.30 - 3.20

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Is the half hrs included in your options or the 7.30am would they be 7am etc?

Kayleighfish · 13/06/2026 12:05

Sorry, it wasn't included! So they 7.45 days or 7.30 days would be a 7am/7.15 am start

I would probably go with option 2.. both my boys were used to getting up and out early as im a nurse and worked in a hospital, they adapted really well. You got to do what works best for you, children are so resilient and will adapt well. Atleast with option 2 youre home for dinner time and can help with homework 3x a week. Do you have a partner/other parent to help out in evenings? If so, what time do they finish work?

Definitely option 1 then. The early starts will kill you all. Is there a partner in this pulling his weight,?

Kayleighfish · 13/06/2026 12:16

Thanks both for your help!

Partner can help-ish, but his work pattern is very inconsistent with start and finishing times, so I would only be able to plan a day or two a head at a time which isn't helpful really.

Both my boys are early birds anyway so the early starts wouldn't be a problem... would you say your child is an early riser or do you think it will be difficult to be up and out early?

She's use to having to be up and out by 7.20 4 days a week at the mo, so the early mornings would probably just be as normal give or take 10 mins!

I don't know if I'm over-thinking it the nursey vs. School environments a bit.
