Can someone please give some advise … my 22 month old still will not sleep through the night I honestly feel like I’m ready to have a nervous breakdown

he’s awaiting adenoid removal

he was classed as a gerd baby since 5 month on omeprazole (recently took him off this as we were convinced it wasn’t that) however things haven’t got any better
when he wakes up it’s not gradual it’s full on melt down and screaming lashing out at us.
we are also treating him for constipation his colon was lumpy after a late night visit to out of ours

he also has reoccurring ear infections but after our hospital visit we were told he didn’t have an ear infection

please has anyone ever experienced this

You have my sympathy. I had a non-sleeper at this age and lack of sleep is awful isn’t it?

If he has constipation and reflux like symptoms, does he have any of these symptoms?

Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow’s milk allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system in which proteins in a food are recognised as a potential threat.

This is really tough op sorry. I would visit a cranial osteopath is funds allow.
We visited one with my two year old recently who managed to relieve her constipation- her diet is great but she is a very tense child.
My dd was also a mouth breather- always had terrible breath and woke regularly. I was convinced something was going on but the doctors just shrugged and said “some babies are like that”. The cranial osteopath corrected the way she was breathing which reduced congestion and stopped the mouth breathing.
Maybe wouldn’t be a complete fix in your son’s case but certainly won’t do any harm.

How often does he wake in the night?

BeSparklyLimeLemur · 09/06/2026 11:43

Have a look at functional abdominal pain. My daughter has episodes of walking in the night multiple times hysterical with stomach pain and covered in sweat. It took a few years but I got a referral to paediatrics who have done blood tests etc with no cause found. They now think it is FAP, and pain should reduce over time. It’s just awful as they are in so much pain and you can’t do much to help.

Ticketyboo2026 · 09/06/2026 14:46

He can go down half 7 his bed time or can be 4 5 times a night
The incident we took him the hospital the night before that it was every half hour hense why we thought another ear infection x

So due to constant ear infections he has been referred to a paediatrician which I’m happy about as I can absolutely go over every little thing with them also and he’s under ENT ..

it’s just waiting game now for appointments

thank you all for your continued comments I honestly appreciate it

I just wish I could get to the bottom of it for him because I believe he’s suffering and also myself mentally xx

You absolutely do not have to vomit to have CMPA. In fact that symptom is rarely present in non-IGE CMPA.

Sorry I’m not sure what the HV said no to? If it was no to an allergy because there is no rash then it sounds as if she’s confusing IGE and non-IGE symptoms.

that sounds so tough on you and your baby, and I’m sorry you are being made to feel silly by your doctor. I would echo what others have said about looking into cow’s milk protein allergy. If he has this, then the reflux treatment alone won’t solve the problem, and it could be responsible for his constipation and and the recurring ear infections. If you wanted to try cutting out dairy then there’s lots of good advice out there about doing it safely so that your little one still gets all the nutrients they need. It can take a few weeks to see a difference if there is CMPA but I found with my 2 who had it that they started improving quickly and within a month they were so much happier and healthier.

I was like this too. Felt much better after a couple of days. After 2 weeks I felt amazing.
