My daughter is in year 10 she has been diagnosed with dyslexia and possibly attention deficit disorder. Diagnosed following formal assessment we paid for. My question is I raised concern with bon primary and secondary school totalling 12 email correspondence and 3 meetings regards concerns for her English. At the start of year 8 she was dropped to lowest set in English with no correspondence with us, she was devastated. She completes all homework, always tries her best. When queried why this has happened, are they worried that she may have dyslexia etc. Informed no ahshe will be fine with them. It was a mistake new teacher etc. our communication continued but slowly but surely all lessons grades dropped along with her confidence. Then told she is fine but very shy and does not ask questions. By year 001 I felt the school had just given up. Whilst my daughter wanting to know why she struggled so I decided to have her formally tested.

Please can anyone advise if a school should be able to advise whether they think a child may need a test for dyslexia. Did they have a responsibility as we raised several time's..

In my experience, schools often focus on the acting out children. If your daughter was not causing them any problems, it is possible they just overlooked her. Well done for getting her assessed. Best thing is to focus on what she needs now going forward.
