Toddler only has accidents at nursery? Anyone know why/what I should do?

Hope this is the right topic! Just looking for some advice if the same thing has happened to your children before.

DD is 3 and semi potty trained. When she is with me or other family members, she remains dry through the day and is great at going to the toilet when she needs to but not yet dry at night.

At nursery, she has accidents constantly, to the point her shoes get soaked and I need to bring her new ones. She also has accidents sometimes as soon as I pick her up from nursery, we get on her scooter to go home and she just wees outside the nursery doors. It’s a lot again, like a full soaking, like she’s been holding it in for ages and just lets go once she’s with me. This didn’t happen when she started nursery in January, but it has been a recent development growing in frequency over the last couple months. So I’m a little worried.

I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas about what the reason for this might be, and if there’s anything at all I can do to help her?

she probably gets too involved with playing to remember she needs the toilet and is not sufficiently trained yet to go without prompting when busy. Taking her to the toilet before you leave nursery might help.

Either too busy to stop and use the toilet or worried about using the toilet for some reason. Can the staff remind her at intervals and can you gently ask about the nursery toilets to check she isn't avoiding them? Probably she is just having too much fun though.

@BendingSpoons @MrsFaustus thank you! That’s good then, so it’s unlikely it’s anything bad, probably just too much fun. I will ask nursery staff to check in with her if she needs to go throughout the day!

She might not like to use the nursery toilets - too busy/loud, no privacy, too dirty?
Is she confident to tell the staff when she needs to go?
At home is she using the toilet independently or are you putting her on the toilet?

Probably too much fun! I would make sure they take her half an hour after lunch/drink breaks.

Independently! Only thing she needs help with is getting the toilet paper, so she just calls me in when she’s ready for it.

Good point. I’m on transport on my way to collect her now so once there I will ask to take her to the toilet, and I can see how she acts in there!
