Relocation to south dublin

We are relocating from the UK to south dublin in early 2027.

we will have a 7, 5 and 1 year old.

I am getting to grips with the irish schooling system and realise we join long queues…

we will initially be based in Leopardstown.

I am making enquiries to Goatstown ET, St Olaf’s, Oatlands Primary and The Children’s House. We have contacted St Andrews and it looks hopeless (it’s also very £€!)

I am keen to have my daughter and son in co-Ed together and we are not particularly religious

anyone with experience of these schools?? Where would people rate highly?

it’s overwhelming leaving a brilliant school here where we are deeply entrenched in the community. I want to feel part of that in dublin and have children in the neighbourhood who are also in school together.

thankyou

Have you tried posting in the Craicnet section @Elise5600? You might get more replies in there Smile

Second the above, boards.ie is an Irish forum that might be worth looking at as well. Do you have accommodation sorted? That will be much harder so I’d start in that end.

I grew up i. Leopardstown and my brother still loves there. His two DC are in the Stepaside Educate Together and they love it. Don't know about Goatstown but the ET schools are well regarded.

That said schools in Ireland are generally all good. There isn't the variation in standard the way you get in the UK. The education system is fab and they'll do well anywhere.

Great schools in that area. You are spoiled for choice but obviously they can be oversubscribed at this point of the year but come September when everything shuffles out usually places come out of the woodwork. Schools are very much community oriented here but so are the extra curriculars, for community building the GAA stands out. It is at the heart of Irish community.
