Swimming aid ideas for teen with epilepsy who cannot swim on holiday

Need help, I’m taking my Step Son on holiday where there will be lots of swiming pools and beach adventures to be had but he can’t swim, has epilepsy with regular seizures and adhd.
im looking for something for him to wear as a swimming aid but also to keep his head up long enough for us to get to him if he has a fit. He is a young teen so arm bands are not what he wants and a life jacket is quite restrictive and sensory wise won’t be great for him. I found this but can’t find a large anywhere. Any other ideas? Forever grateful for this community 💙

Isn’t allowed to swim due to seizures or has never learned?

you’ll need different things.

if non swimming then bouyancy jacket plus head support?

My dsd has severe epilepsy, you do not let go, 2 adults at all time. Safety is paramount

our complex needs kids love those floating mats made of balls like you get in a ballpool. They enable them to float on the surface of the water safely . One of ours has also epilepsy and had a huge seizure in the pool once. It was scary to manage so we were grateful they were in no danger of sinking as well. So might be worth a try

If you need his head up then it really has to be life jacket. Either that or two adults need to stay within arms reach. Moving a person having a fit from the water is no small task. Your partner should consider lifeguard training.

Swimming with severe epilepsy is very dangerous, at our pool we have an extra lifeguard for 121 watching. Will he even be allowed?

I’ve just read ‘long enough for us to get to him’. This teenager should be within arms reach of you - well, more likely their parent - at a swimming pool at all times.

I wear a lifejacket for water skiing. They are not restrictive. You are thinking about the boat life jackets, you need to look for one specific for water sports.
