Milton cold water steriliser?

Has anybody here used the Milton cold water steriliser, and if so would you reccomended it?

In the past I've used the Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I was thinking the Milton one might be a lot easier.

My only reservation is does the tablet not leave a funny aftertaste on the bottles? I've smelt Milton tablet solution before and I just can't imagine it not leaving a scent/taste. And obviously you can't then rinse them off once they're sterile

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Im ancient and used Milton to sterilise bottles in the early 90s i used to rinse the bottles out with cooled boiled water before I made them up, I.dont think it tasted of much really. I used to sterilise dummies as well.

I used it when on holiday and works a treat. Much easier than faffing about with a steam steriliser thing.

I used this when we went abroad and daughter drunk her bottles and sucked her dummy with no problems

A few months ago, EU regulations changed meaning that Milton now have to tell you to rinse them in cold water after taking things out of the sterilising solution!

But it isn’t strictly necessary. We never noticed any odd taste. I thought it was really handy.

Feelingshocked26 · 26/05/2026 20:50

Also there’s so much you can chuck in there! Not just bottles and bowls and plates and cutlery and breast pump bits but toys and teethers and all sorts!

HappyBlueDonkey · 26/05/2026 20:52

You actually do need to rinse it now! It’s what we used and it worked well especially for travelling

I used this for all three of my children
So easy to put all their bottles in and have it set up on the side of the kitchen all day

That Milton smell turns my tummy tbh.
Used it with my first, but the smell does stay in the bottles.

I have the UV sterilizer. My dd stopped needing it 2 years ago but we use it to sterilizer so many things- toys, feeding stuff etc. would rather invest in that.
