Hi all iv never done anything like this before but i duno what to think and think i need to see what others from outside think.
So i have a son hes now 13months no babbling he is behind with nearly all development hv is due to come do a follow up assesment soon but something is really itching me something is different he can sit up for long periods playing with toys but no bum shuffling no crawling he did start getting him self into a crawl postion and lying down and getting back up but now hes stopped and hes just sitting again doesnt really pull up to stand and when i do help him stand hes so unstable cant keep still constant wobbling and always on his tiptoes and when he dose go flat feet then he starts to go on the side of his feet, he makes a few different moaning like groaning noises flaps and circle motions with both hands and feet alot doesnt clap wave point to things seems content mostly when hes sitting alone in his own world when my old kids try to play hes just starts to cry, he loves lights hates loud noises its like we take 2 steps forward but then 100 steps back i duno what to think has anyone got any insight for me and what they think about getting him a refferal to speach therapy and physical therapy or do i wait and give him more time.
Please help i have 4 children altogether including my son so inow what to expect and something feels different with him but i keep telling my self hes just a baby

What does your Health Visitor say? This is a huge part of their job. Ask them to come earlier if you're concerned?

Ohthatsabitshit · 21/05/2026 22:59

I think you are right to be concerned.

Yes. Based on what you have said I would be very concerned and would be pushing for referrals.

Well he is just a baby Op, but also a mum's intuition is usually quite a strong thing, and you are a mum of four, and that counts for something.

That said, every child is different and development can come in bursts. In our NCT group the baby that did everything first all year - sitting, rolling, babbling, weaning, drinking from a cup, was suddenly the only baby not even crawling or with a couple of words at their first birthday, while others were toddling about and chattering. So the development can be very uneven.

There is no harm in getting a second opinion. Just keep talking to him and supporting him.

No harm in pushing for a referral as a mother's intuition is a very powerful tool, and like you day, you have 3 other children.

HOWEVER not all children develop the same and it's important to remember that. My DH didn't talk until he was 4 and didn't walk until 18 months, my poor MIL developed very severe anxiety poor thing as he was so behind. He turned out to be perfectly healthy and is a very fit and well adjusted adult.
