My child has just been diagnosed with adhd, they said it was more on the moderate to severe end. Does anyone know how medication works now and how soon I can get it? It was through right to choose

It’s really variable. Sometimes the waiting list for medication can be over a year, sometimes it’s shorter. You need to speak to the clinic who diagnosed your dc and ask them.

You will probably given information on both stimulant and non-stimulant medication.

Your child will likely need an ECG as well as being weighed, height measured and blood pressure taken.

Some GP surgeries will do this for you, some won’t. If they won’t, you may be able to get it done through your Right to Choose clinic.

Have you already spoken to your GP about whether they will agree to Shared Care once your child is on a stable dose? Some will, some won’t. If they won’t, then your Right to Choose provider should be able to do this.

Thanks. The GP referred us to right to choose im waiting for the report but wanted to know if I could get medication now or if I have to wait for the report especially if there is a long waiting list

There’s likely to be a separate waiting list for medication. It would be worth contacting the clinic while you’re waiting for the report.

does the clinic you used definitely offer medication? Not all clinics do.
