Three-year-old rubbing on car seat strap, should I discourage it?

Hello… looking for some pearls of wisdom on a bit of a delicate topic.
My little girl has been rubbing herself up on the strap that goes between the legs on her car seat for the best part of 18 months. It’s pretty much every car journey. She goes into a trance like state, her breathing pattern changes and she gyrates away.
She’s just turned three and I recently asked her why she does it, her answer was “it tickles my bits”.
I’ve more or less ignored it and let her get on with it as online searches have said it’s normal, it isn’t sexual behaviour and she’ll grow out of it… I believe it’s referred to as “genital stimming”.
Other than it being slightly uncomfortable for other passengers, especially for her grandparents, is there any reason I should be discouraging this behaviour? I get that they don’t really understand social etiquette and she’s just exploring her body but is it normal for this to be going on so long?! Help!

A (male) family member was rather over interested in his penis for a long time… HV said it was completely normal and not to shame him, but teach that it is polite not to do it in public. Private parts are private etc.

basically, you need to teach the social etiquette :)

I agree with the last poster. She isn’t doing anything wrong but she needs to learn somethings just can’t be done in public. You don’t want her doing it with other objects in other settings.

Thank you for your insight. I think you are right and perhaps it’s time to navigate this.
