I feel like we've read every book on the shelf 40 times over 😂just looking for some ideas for DD, recent hits have been "The Great Dog Bottom Swap", "The Paper Dolls", Paddington books, the Pugicorn. Anything your little ones of a similar age are enjoying really!

My son loved the Percy Park keeper books and Kipper. We also read the complete Winnie the Pooh set over and over. Also the Mog books and a series called Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam about two dogs who used to be robbers but turn to baking and crime solving instead 🤣

TeaandHobnobs · 07/05/2026 13:05

Absolutely Elmer series, Percy the Park Keeper series, “There are cats in this book”.

I miss reading these in silly voices 🥹

At that age, I and my DN after me loved; The Garden Gang, The Munch Bunch and Morgan, the absent-minded mallard.

All of the Rachel Bright books - the Koala who Could, the Lion Inside etc etc
My son is 3 now and has enjoyed You Choose for a while.
We’ve also read a few of the Topsy and Tim books. There was one about the dentist which was helpful for reading before his first time at the dentist.

At this age my DC's favourite was You Choose.

We read that one so much it had to go “on holiday” sometimes just so that DC2 would accept another book!

OP I can recommend joining her up to the local library. Both of mine loved going to choose their own books at this age and it gives you a bit more variety.

My 2 (nearly 3) yo loves the Jolly Postman books - with all the little letters to pull out and look at!

I love a Hairy McClary and a Slinky Malinky story! So fun to read out aloud!

FunnyOrca · 08/05/2026 20:45

Morag Hood has a few good hits for this age group!

Reader19 · 09/05/2026 21:17

The Littlest Yak
Mog books
Quentin Blake books - Zagazoo, Mrs Armitage
She also loves poems. We have some illustrated versions of The Owl and the Pussycat, Jellicle Cats
Julia Donaldson also very popular!

Reader19 · 09/05/2026 21:19

Looking above, Funnybones too! In fact anything by the Ahlbergs. Each Peach Pear Plum is wonderful. Lots to point out.

IWasTangoed · 09/05/2026 21:32

There's a series called 'There’s a ___ in my book' (,monster/ dinosaur/ witch etc) they are quite interactive and fun to read.

But yes, Julia Donaldson, Elmer, Peter Rabbit etc all good. Be warned, don't start on the Hey Duggee or Peppa Pig books - there are millions of them and they can't get enough of them so you will be reading them forever!

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 10/05/2026 20:58
